Two barn burners in as many years in the matchup.

Impressive size and volume of the Texas contingent at Memorial last night. With rare exception, a classy group.

Some observations on the Longhorns:

- Your defense looks and plays young. Webb had a field day calling audibles on specific formations and Texas defenders did not seem to be able to adjust
- Your OL is going to be very good. Our front 7 aren't good so take it with a grain of salt, however I saw a unit for the Horns that was well coached, powerful and consistent
- Buechele throws a beautiful deep ball and has nice pocket presence. Looked like a limited route tree and he struggled late when the pressure mounted. Regardless, he's going to be good

I hope the Longhorn fans here who were dissing my Bears come back and tip their caps. The notion that Spavital couldn't coach (those WR screens you disdained were sure effective last night), that Webb was mediocre and that our tiny receivers would struggle were all BS. Cal has one of if the not the worst run defense in the country, yet that group rallied in the 2nd half. And our offense is lights out good. Skill talent everywhere and a very good future NFL QB directing it. Athlete to athlete this was not the mismatch Texas fans made it out to be.

We lost to SDSU (one of the three best G5 teams) because of four turnovers and a KO return TD we gave up. You lost last night because of the two turnovers and frankly because we outplayed you in the 4th quarter. We may not be a great team, but likely as with last year are a good team. No shame in the loss.

I hope you guys bounce back and make a lot of noise in the B12. I suspect you will. Your defensive will mature and get saltier. Your QB is only going to get better. Best of luck.

Your midget receivers really didn't do much-- except for the one with the long funny name.

Your lone tall dude Hansen, was the show stopper. The same dude that I said we needed to look out for. Your midgets, not so much.... but that dude can ball.

Your lack of humility is only surpassed by your lack of knowledge.

Jordan Veasy - the guy with three huge 3rd down catches and our first TD goes 6'3" and 225lbs - he weighs more than any of Texas' midget WRs. So our top two WRs last night were big dudes.

Aren't you the same guy who talked smack about Webb? Spavital? Come clean and you'll feel better. Our offense is lights out and full of future NFL talent. We lost the #1 pick and our top 5 WRs (4 of whom are collecting an NFL paycheck this week) and we're better on offense than we were last year. Show some respect

Before you go barking up the wrong tree you need to know he also played for Texas so yes he is an ex player. Get your facts straight before you look stupid.

My facts straight? What did I say that was incorrect?

His resume is of no interest to me. He made arrogant comments about Webb and Spavital and the size of our receivers. He was wrong on all three counts. A little humility and respect go a long way in life.

Congrats on the win Calhoop. I have to admit that I too have made several uncomplementary remarks about the 31 year old Spavital. I still really don't believe in his competence, but, it wasn't him that did anything. Dykes's connections got Webb from Tech to Cal and you had you high powered offense before spavital got there. Webb did a very good job.

He knows what he is talking about. He has been around football a long time. And if you must know he raved about Goff last year and was spot on. So there is your in correctness.

Never said a word about Webb. Your credibility go boom.

I said good luck with Spav- he seemed to have soured while coaching at aggy. And your 6'3 dude caught three balls. None for scores I believe. Hansen was your baller. Period. End of story. No need to argue. Your small wrs we were able to physically man handle. Hence their sparse production with the exception of the dude with the long name.

No Hansen = no win.

And if you'll also recall, which I'm sure your selective memory won't allow you to do so- I stated clearly: "Do no sleep on Cal. Do not try and out score Cal". We did exactly the opposite. We got to reading our press clippings and then decided ti v turn it into a boat race instead of just lining up and running at you every single down.

We averaged 6+yards per carry. Why we would EVER need to throw is beyond me. Even when your D stacked the box, we bullied you.

Now does that clear everything up? Less thc and more ginko my man.

My apologies if I conflated your posts with someone else on this board who was ripping Webb. Veasy did in fact catch the first TD giving two of our bigger WRs 3 of the 4 TDs.

Speaking more subjectively, I think our WR corps goes well beyond Hansen. We had kids open all over the field. Robertson ran by Davis multiple times but Webb didn't see him. The one target he got he juked two kids for a first and goal. Big man Hudson who had a nice game last week against SDSU didn't feature much cause we didn't need him. Our team has huge holes in our defensive front 7 but our WR group is special. Far more talented and deeper than the group that left.

It was a good game. Our offense is really good. Our defense is really poor. IMO, Texas is a year away. I think you're a legit playoff contender next year. Buechele needs to add 10lbs and get more comfortable with a bigger playbook. The defense has talent it just needs seasoning though I didn't see much at safety yesterday.

Did you watch the game? Did you only look at the Texas side of the post-game stat sheet (I know you looked at that because of your calculation of yards per carry).

Cal's "6'3" dude caught a touchdown. I know only Hansen matters to you, but touchdowns are important.

Cal's smallest receiver Stovall - the one you claimed to physically manhandle and shut down - had 6 catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. That doesn't make him Cal's best wr - but it would have made him Texas best wr in this game. So, by your logic, Cal shut down Texas puny/tiny/untalented wrs (and no, I'm not making that claim). Stovall is a true freshman who had 6 career catches coming into the game - how is that "shutting him down"?

Your argument that Hansen was the only player that is a "baller" is not only not born out by the stats - its totally irrelevant. What is the point? He's on Cal's team. How would Texas have done without Foreman's 230 all purpose yards? Is he Texas' only "baller"?

You seem to have knowledge about football (as a former player or otherwise) but your orange colored glasses prevent you from being objective or giving credit where credit is due. Candidly, I thought Cal would lose this game. Texas has a far more talented roster from a recruiting point of view and Cal looked pretty bad last week. Bottom line is that Cal got the job done and Texas didn't. Cal's players and coaches deserve credit for that - and Texas deserve some blame (I have no idea why Texas didn't try to run the ball more, particularly on the last possession). Show some class and move on - most Longhorn alums I know are classy.

The fact is that coaching cost us this game, not Cal. We were on the verge of opening up a 3 score lead in the 1st half when we tried to get cute and start slinging the ball downfield. They got the interception and scored off that turnover. That sequence changed the game for us. Had we just kept ramming the ball at them with Foreman and Warren we would've not only scored but also kept the clock moving. That would've made Cal's offense more predictable which would've helped our porous defense.

Call fans shouldn't get too excited about this win. You were gift wrapped this game by our coaching staff. Plus, we're just not a very good team right now. Cal really has no future after this season and has no realistic chance of contending for anything in the FBS or the Pacific 12 for that matter.

Anytime you're offense scores 41 points and you rush for over 300 yards and you get a blocked punt safety, you should NEVER lose that game. The only way that happens is if you have completely incompetent defensive coaching.

not game related but cal fans were terrible after the game. trashier than ou and mouthier than tech. acted like they never won anything in their lives.

They are TEXAS. There has to be an excuse why an unranked team beat a #11 team. They will never man up and give you credit. Period.

Spavital is no doubt a better fit in the Pac 12. He showed very little competence as the TAMU OC. He appeared to be in over his head. He's still young and has potential. It looks like he's off to a good start with Cal. I wish him the best.

It was ugly and Texas mistakes cost them the game, neither team looked worth a shit. Texas ran for over 300 yards and our secondary got burned on missed assignments and poor adjustments. Not to mention holding and fall start penalties at the most inopportune time... Young and they looked it.

The two Texas turnovers were the difference. They lead to 14 Cal points after quality stops.

Texas should never have coughed that one up. Davis, Hill and Evans looked foolish and these are highly touted prospects.

Not to get caught up in 18-22 year old kids and it's only one game. But, Chuck is on the clock with a chance to redeem himself in a few weeks.

It is very weird to me. I wish him well but, he has been somewhere different every single year except for two years at aggy. He probably has one of those type personalities where he was an OC at major D1 in his 20s. I mean, how much can you know about one's successes in that limited time?

You were the better team again this year, so hats off. Appreciate the well wishes, and good luck to your team the rest of the way.

Sour grapes. Cal made a TON of silly mistakes including two personal foul penalties that kept Texas drives going and a gift wrapped idiotic coaching decision to go for it on 4th and 1 inside our own 30. The better team won on Saturday night. By 2 TDs if not for a crazy play at the end. When we had to score and make plays, we did. Texas did not.

We beat you two years in a row at both your house and ours. We were not the awful team you thought we were - We won 8 games last year and reloaded on offense despite rampant skepticism from Longhorn fans who should know better. We've more than earned the respect of Texas even if you're too angry to give it up.

As to HornDeutsch's post, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Cal fans. I had a few bad ones with Texas fans last night talking smack in the donor section in front of my kids using bad language. It was a great game and as we were 8 point dogs at home, there was some outsized excitement. We're human.

Congratulations on your victory. We know it means a lot whenever a team with zero football tradition beats a storied team like Texas. You may find it hard to believe but we've actually lost to horrible football teams before. This was not the first time. Beat us when we're actually a BCS playoff contender and you'll get legitimate props. All you did was beat a very mediocre team that is 2-3 years from contending for a national title. No big deal.

Don’t you hate it when some guy from the winning team comes here and says good game? Do you think he would be here saying good game if they lost?

We experienced more than a "few" bad Cal fans. Your fans are crap. Your stadium is crap. Your football tradition is zilch. You are a blow hard. Have a nice day.

I'm shocked you didn't have a better time. I would have thought your positive disposition and gracious nature would have meant you got a love from everyone you met. Whodda thunk?

Texas is a great school and your football team has a wonderful tradition. We very much enjoyed Austin and the vast majority of the fans we met there and this year in Berkeley.

I hope you find some happiness in the games to come.

Wasnt your fan base that went into meltdown when Texas beat ND.... crying about all the ways Texas cheated, or paid off the refs? We're Texas allright... everyone has to find a reason that we shouldnt win when we do.... which is actually more saddening than what you said bc at least we do things like this in regards to our own team not the failures of other teams.

Do you think he would be here saying good game if they lost?
Judging from Notre Dame, no, losers rarely pay their respects post-game, it is mostly winners who come to publicly congratulate themselves on how awesome they are.

Regardless, it doesn't matter much, victory is sweet but the loss to Cal may serve as a needed wakeup call. Need to get our ballers up to speed and on the field on D, and if we can get a healthy O-line [and quarterback] we will hopefully whip some oklahoma a$$ in a couple weeks.
