Good try but lost again

14-8 with 9 games remaining. I like our chances to make the tourney, but, there is nothing spectacular about this team that will propel them deep into the bracket. Maybe the sweet 16 max.

Sweet 16 would take something close to a miracle. If this team makes the Tournament -- which is still far from assured -- it would likely face at worst a 3-seed in the round of 32.

In my humble opinion, Shaka needed to win a game like this. His seat is getting a little warm

Tough loss and we had 3 players foul out, Roach stepped it up and kept us in the game. I like the fight in these guys and came back 13 down. Bamba again got hurt and came back and sparked the team.

Hook 'Em

I don't understand why we struggle shooting free throws it was same under Barnes year after year free throws have cost us huge and they still do.

I wasnt the best free throw shooter on my high school basketball team.....i think i was a little over 75% from the line but the TEXAS free throw shooting is horrible. Cost them a few games this year including the Duke game.....if they miss the dance its on their free throw shooting. Funny how fundamentals, defense and free throw shooting were top priorities back when i was in high school....not so much anymore.

Bamba needs one more year in college. I know he won't, but with one more year in the weight room, this dude would be number 1 over all.

Well that could of been said of Myles Turner as well and he is tearing it up in the league and NBA teams now notice they made a mistake by not drafting him in the top 3

There is one thing that is spectacular: Bamba's ability to protect the rim is a thing of beauty. Texas is going to miss that next year.

Speaking of next year, Brock Cunningham is one of the smartest (instinctual) basketball players I've seen. I don't know how he will stack up to the physical nature of college, but he is a scrapper.

Who is this Brock Cunningham you speak of?

The officiating especially in the first half really screwed us. Especially in OT. The officials called everything a foul when we were on defense, but we didn’t get the same calls on the offensive end. That burned us big time. Roach and Davis tried to win it by themselves in OT but couldn’t quite pull it off.

I was just keeping up on Gamecast, so didn’t see the actual plays. . . but I envisioned the 3pt foul on Young and the foul on Bamba, both with the lead before overtime, being dumb. Seems like those were pretty huge. Maybe Bamba had to foul, but to foul a guy beyond the arc with a four point lead is usually inexcusable.

The parrellels between the football and basketball seasons are uncanny. Noticeable improvement in certain areas, but both had three games that should have easily been wins, only to let them slip away, totally changing the complexion of the season.

At least two of the fouls on Bamba were absolute jokes.

Big kid from Austin Westlake, signed or committed (can't remember) for next year. Big bodied kid who looks pretty strong

He is not that big relative to college 6'6 / 205ish. I doubt he can crack the starting line up next year. But I suspect he is a 4 year guy that will bring a lot of savvy to the Texas basketball program in years to come.

He makes touch passes that catch the defense flat footed, rips down a rebound and immediately fires a pass up court, not shut down defense but pesky, leads the team in floor burns, hits timely 3 point shots, appears to have a mean streak. Most of all, just an innate understanding of how to play every facet of the game. In that limited scope of having a feel for the game a little like the great Larry Bird.

He is an exceptionally good high school player. It will be interesting to see if he has the athleticism to transition to college.
