Instead of working off last years budget amounts and adding a certain percentage, it should be a zero amount start. Then justify every dollar, every job, every expenditure.
The media were all over the poor government workers missing paychecks. While that is a shame, no doubt, the real outrage is 800,000 non-essential jobs.
What?
This insanity has gone on for too long unchecked. It is not a D problem or a R problem, it is an I problem. Incumbents, spending money they haven't earned to implement, for instance, insurance laws. One of the problems, and there are many, is that they live off a completely different set of rules. Not just insurance, but travel, postage, and hidden costs that run up the National Deficit.
Clinton may have had his warts, but he was the last President to run up a surplus.
That is not that long ago.

I realize that I am railing against the massive inertia of out of control government, but it needed saying. And yes, I felt like that it needed to be said, it needed to be said now, and it needed to be said by me.
I am sure many will point out that I don't know the first thing about the intricacies of government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
I will grant that may be true.
But I will posit that those in Washington, DC don't either.
