Surprised it hasn’t been put here, or maybe I missed it on a thread, but Gary Patterson hired as a special assistant on defense.
I just wonder if it becomes to many cooks in the kitchen and if egos get hurt or in the way.
I’m all for it, but just worried about it jelling.

Wow! And I laughed at one of our posters about even thinking he would accept a job from us that wasn’t HC.

I think coming from Alabama Sark knows how to manage that. Last few years there have been a lot of former HC’s in the room at Alabama

Link on that?

He’s a cartoon character whose better days are past. Dont forget his accusations that SMU knocked out his assistant coach - he’s lost all common sense. All these openings and not one mention of Fatterson. I’d pass.

I’d agree if we were considering hiring him as a HC, but hes still an elite defensive mind. As DC or someone to help on defense I’d hire him in a heartbeat

There isn’t a better defensive coach who has done more with lesser talent than GP. He had a knack for taking athletes out of high school and molding them into high level draft picks on the defensive side of the ball.

It’s the AL model. Hire ex HCs as analysts. At AL it’s the place ex HCs go to rehabilitate their image before landing another gig. Butch Jones and Charley Strong are examples. There are no concerns about jelling issues. The analysts know their place/role.

Snyder at K St, Leach at Tech and Patterson at TCU should of had lifetime contracts for what they accomplished at those schools. Egos got in the way at the last two mentioned.

Still haven’t seen where he was “hired”

Mike Leach is a fraud. He should not be mentioned in the same breath as Snyder or Patterson.

His records were in 7 win his first two years. Leach was legit at Tech. No defensive talent yet he kept winning.

He'd schedule 4 patsies every year and go .500 in conference. His trophy case is empty. Horribly overrated
