Couldn't cut it in the Mexican Leagues
Just a couple of notes.

Defense first

Ford (#41) was by far our best defensive player. He probably would not have played had Arm Band not gotten hurt.
Oghoufo (#18) was our 2nd best player. But, he was just average grade wise. That tells you something.
Both of these guys are LBs, which tells me one thing...Brock (#47) makes these guys look really bad
The DL was AWFUL in tackling. 3 players on the DL graded below a 50 - Sweat (#93), Murphy (#90), Collins (#95)
Josh Thompson (#9) picked a bad day to be really bad
Jahdae Barron (#23) needs to play more, Schooler (#14) needs to play less
BJ Foster (#25) sucks in the run game

The coaches are rotating guys to see who the hell wants to be out there...and there aren't 13/14 guys yet that want to stay on the field.

Offense

Keilan Robinson (#7) either needs to learn the damn playbook, or Sark needs to get his ass the ball. I don't know which it is, but 5 snaps is about 20 too few
Our OL man...smh. Started out HOT! It was truly a tale of two halves. Best they have been all year in 1H...probably worst I've seen them in 4Q
Cade Brewer (#80) does very little to improve this offense. He can't get open, he can't run and he can't block. Wiley (#19) can't block either, but at least he gets open
Why did RoJo (#2) only get 8 snaps???
Need more from Moore (#6)
Casey (#11) was the worst player on offense yesterday. How bad is his thumb actually?

Open for questions if you guys want to know any specifics

What is everyone's thoughts on the conditioning of both lines? Early in the game it seems our guys are holding their own. Then late in the game both sides are getting pushed back. Like they are weak in their legs or just gassed. You can't run an offense when the line is getting dominated like that and the QB is getting hammered every time he drops back.

Fat ass D line that "collapsed" after he got up on his own, then when the trainers arrived he assumed the vagina/fetal/surrender/submission position on the ground, was simply faking a cramp because he was tired. You can tell a real cramp from a tired, worn out fake job.

I saw that too, these guys are weak and out of shape. Their legs give out in the 4th quarter.

I think it's a big reason we are collapsing in the second half of games is our poor conditioning. I would be curious to know Sark's practice routine and how important conditioning is.

There's not much conditioning going on at this point of the season. You have either practiced and played yourself into shape, or you haven't.
Fair enough. I just don't remember them looking this gassed in the first couple games.

I just meant, there isn't much you can do about conditioning at this point in the season. There is definitely a conditioning problem. Could be a number of issues...

The coaches didn't require enough in fall camp
The players didn't require enough of themselves in fall camp
Maybe they're over conditioned during the week
Maybe the players just aren't very tough
Maybe the players and coaches are both at fault by not requiring a strenuous enough practice regiment

Whatever it is, it needs addressing and a solution provided and executed to fix the issue.

You get into cardio shape over the summer during summer work outs. If your fat ass isn't in shape when you show up to two a days, you're behind.

We got a lot of dudes that are behind.

I don't remember them being this gassed in the first 3 weeks though? Maybe they were though and I just don't remember.

They were gassed in the second half against Arkansas. The other two games were ULL and Rice

How did I miss this?

We had 1 yard of offense in the 4th quarter.

1.

1

The loneliest number.

I'm ready for baseball season. I'll watch other top college games and the NFL. I can't watch the garbage that Texas is putting on the field.

Could you opine on which combination of Oline appeared to me the most effect and how some of the younger guys looked.

76 appeared to be able to move his man off the ball while run blocking, but he struggled a lot on pass pro.

Kerstetter had a very solid game, not surprising since 59/63 snaps came at RT
Karic played surprisingly well at LT in spell for Jones. I don't know why, other than maybe Jones was ineffective again. That said, one of the plays of the game (negative) was when Majors got hurt, Kerstetter moved to C and Karic came to RT...the immediate impact was a huge play for oSu defense.
Cade Brewer bitching out on his kick block was a huge blunder. If he gets that block, we get a first down and at the very least into FG range to take a lead. So frustrating. Other than that, he was average in the run game
Angilau was the LG for all 63 snaps. He was just ok. Probably his worst game of the season, but it wasn't bad. He just didn't do anything to really improve the OL
Jones was LT and when we need him to run block, he does a decent job but he is not a LT...yet. He only played 42 snaps but I haven't figured out why
Majors was decidedly average yet again. Majors is very consistent in his grades...it just isn't anything other than bang average.
Imade was piss poor in pass pro. His sub, Connor was even worse.

We don't have 5 guys. Hell, we don't have 4 guys on the OL. We have 1 that generally plays well, 2 that'll play average and then 3 that will just flat out shit the bed. The other issue is, any given week any one of the above can be any one of the good, bad, ugly. It is some head scratching stuff to be honest.

We didn't have a #76 on the field...maybe #75? That is Angilau. He is usually pretty solid in the run game.

I would say, we need to rotate early and not count of these guys to be efficient when they're tired. Also, we can't count on the guys like Connor and Karic when it is crunch time. Those guys need to rotate early. The problem with that is, you're trying to create rhythm within the OL unit, lol.

This isn't breaking news, but our OL is a problem. They're a freaking mess.

Hope this answered your question :)

I'm speculating but it might help us to go with an offense based on top could help us. It could shorten the game for the defense which could improve our chances especially against Baylor and ISU. Doesn't have to be giving the ball to Bijan 30+ times a game.

But it goes against Sarkisian's philosophy. He likes to get his guys on the edge and we have the speed to do it. Qb and skill players is our teams biggest strength. I think Sarkisian is our best play caller in over 25 years. And that's the most impressive thing about him.

Like I said speculation.
Thoughts?
