Anyone watching this classic Aggie meltdown? They lost yesterday's game vs. Alabama at home, tied up in today's game 2-2, then...top of the 9th bases loaded and bama crushes one to take the lead 6-2, still top of 9th.... lovely day at their ballpark. 🤘

EDIT: from Aggie site...termites are swarming to fire their baseball coach. Wow.

I should have done this earlier, but we've gotten questions about this recently and I got it back yesterday:

Texas A&M baseball coach Michael Earley is on a four-year, $3.9 million deal (excluding incentives), beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2028.

Year 1 base salary: $900K

Year 2 base salary: $950K

Year 3 base salary: $1 million

Year 4 base salary: $1.05 million

It also included a country club membership, dealer vehicle through the athletic department car program, a $3K allowance for A&M Adidas apparel and the following incentives: $30K for winning the regular-season conference championship, $20K for winning the conference tournament, $50K for reaching the Super Regionals, $25K if the Super Regionals take place in Brazos County, $50K for making the CWS, $100K for making the championship series of the CWS, $150K for winning the natty, $20K if the team has a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and $15K for SEC Coach of the Year, $30K for winning ABCA or AP National Coach of the Year. However, there is a cap of $300K on incentive payments per year.

If A&M fires Earley without cause, it would owe him 100% of his remaining base salary. However, there is a mitigation/offset clause that stipulates Earley would need to use his "best efforts" to obtain employment ... and if he lands another job, the damages A&M owes Earley would be offset and reduced by the gross compensation he earns personally or through business entities owned/controlled by him.

If Earley terminates his contract, he would owe A&M $900K if it happens during his first contract year, $950K if it is during his second contract year, $1 million if it is during his third contract year and $1.05 million if it is during his fourth contract year.

It also includes various other clauses that are in most college coaching contracts.

Maybe the most interesting thing ... Earley does not make much more than Jason Kelly per year. Kelly is on a two-year, $1.4 million deal. His incentives are within the same ballpark, too
