Texas coach Tom Herman was on campus today giving away pizzas, so I decided attend the event to see if I could talk to him afterwards. Herman shook hands and took pictures with students for nearly an hour. When he was done, he only had three minutes to speak before having to run.
Since Herman has been hitting the recruiting trail pretty hard, I asked him how he has been received and what his pitch has been.
"We've been received really, really well," Herman said. "We've got relationships that go back decades with most of these high school coaches. The reception has been great ... This is still one of the premier educations in the country. One of the premier cities in the country. Playing football at a level that has every resource support to win championships.
In addition, I asked Herman if he thought they would be able to close strong in recruiting.
"Yeah, yeah," Herman said.
Lastly, I asked Herman how soon he wanted to get his staff in place. It looks like he anticipates movement very soon.
"Some of them are coming from different places, so I think we'll know a lot more next week after the recruiting stops this weekend, and kind of let the dust settle next week," Herman said.
