There used to be an old adage among door to door salesmen about securing a sale. It was basically this. "Once they agree to buy the vacuum cleaner, shut up." The point was this. Once you get the customer to agree, shut up and close the deal. Don't keep talking until you talk yourself out of the sale.
After the awful events of last week a large part of America was willing to get on board with what we need to do to effect serious change. We had agreed to "buy the vacuum cleaner." But the protesters did not shut up and close the deal. They kept on talking ( burning, looting, killing). And now they are about to talk themselves out of the sale. A good portion of American is about ready to say "screw you, this is no longer about Mr. Floyd. It is now about you and your lawless behavior. Gather up your vacuum cleaner and get off of my porch."
