As one of the boards more conservative posters I will be the first to say, no, this was not Obama's fault. I won't reach into the "it happened on his watch" bag of bullshit politics. There is nothing he could have known or done to predict this event.
That said, those of who jump immediately to the worn out and equally idiotic "it was the gun's fault" position will be no closer to a meaningful solution to these kinds of events.
It is sad, and it may stretch our inclusional values, but we all know what we have to do to help prevent these kinds of things. It involves how we approach the perpetrators and not how we approach the means they use. Start with the premise that anyone who wants to do something like this will find the means. Let's try to have a meaningful discussion along these lines.
