Houston Heights defensive back Jalen Green is one of the country’s best at his position, so it came as little surprise that Green took home top defensive back honors at last weekend’s Dallas event of the Rivals Three Stripe Camp presented by Adidas. In doing so, Green earned himself a spot at the Five-Star Challenge, where he’ll test his skills against other top national prospects.

On the recruiting front, the 6-2 Green continues to keep an open mind and he doesn’t really tip his hand on favorites. He did a recent visit to take in a Texas Longhorn scrimmage, and UT cornerbacks coach Jason Washington has made the Rivals250 member a top recruiting priority.

“It went pretty good,” Green said of the visit. “I talked to players and coaches to see how everything is going. They said where I can fit in to the program, what I can do and what I can bring to the table.”

The Texas coaches told Green they like his size, athleticism and versatility.

“My tallness, my length,” Green said when asked what the UT coaches felt he brings. “That I can play bump and run. They said they can call whatever they want and not have to worry about me.”

Green said he plans on releasing a list of favorites soon but does not have an exact timeframe in mind. He told Orangebloods recently that Texas is one of the top schools he’ll consider due to the environment and people in the program. The Longhorns aren’t the only ones in hot pursuit.

“TCU is coming hard. Penn State is talking to me. USC is talking to me,” Green said.
