No doubt about it.
Flew to Cancun today. Boarding required passport and boarding pass on my phone.
Was also navigating with a rolling carry on.
Boarded. Put suit case in overhead bin. Sat done. Flew to Cancun.
Going through Mexican Customs.
No passport.

They made me stand there. DO NOT CROSS THAT RED LINE!
My wife went through customs. Went to the American Airlines counter and they called the plane.
Found the passport in the overhead bin above my seat.
