Caden Sterns is already 10lbs heavier than what CG weighed in the NFL. Boyd and Davis were both heavier than CG too. Foster and Jones are as well. 2019's Watson, Owens and Adimora are also already bigger.

It is the modern game and not the players. CG never had to worry about getting ejected for targeting.

FB, you stated why don't we have big DB's like Griffin, and then it was stated that virtually all of our starting DB's are bigger than Griffin. I don't see the issue, I get that you want to go back to the days of players being knocked unconscious due to big hits, but the reality is that just isn't going to happen due to the rule changes and penalties, but BJ Foster, Sterns, Locke, all had huge memorable hits this past season (Foster with several), I just don't get the confusion. We have big athletes who are big hitters who are doing their absolute best to not get ejected for "highlight reel" hits that guys like Griffin, Vasher, Westbrook, etc got away with.

FB, with all due respect, it seems that you post all positives about the past, and mostly negative stuff about the current. You seem to think that the "good 'ol days" regarding Texas teams and players were the best and nothing today is good compared to "back in the day". I respectfully disagree. Sure, DKR was a great coach and Texas had some good players back then. But guess what - DKR lost games. He made mistakes. He was human. He didn't win it all every year.
Fast forward to the current Texas program under coach Herman. He is getting things back to where they should be. He and the coaching staff are recruiting their asses off. They are coaching their asses off. Texas has some really good players on this team. NFL caliber players. Might I suggest that you try looking forward and not backwards. The past is gone. Its not coming back. All we have is tomorrow and beyond. Negativity does no one any good. Just something to consider.

FB, let me ask you a question? Have you bought a new vehicle in the last say 20 years? When you bought that vehicle, did you ask the manufacturer to take out the additional side curtain airbags, the padded dash, the padded steering wheel, the antilock brakes? No because you realize that those darns things could save you life in the event of a bad crash. Let me also ask, any time your house needs a touch up in the paint department, do you go down to your local hardware store and see if they can add lead back to it? No because you know that crap kills you. If you are building a house, do you ask the contractor to install asbestos tiles in your ceiling? No because you know that crap causes cancer. Now, lets apply that to football. These kids (and lets not forget, they are kids) are playing a game with equipment and rules that has without a doubt saved lives already and will continue to save lives going forward. If changing the rule about the way to tackle people is going to save lives, then yes I am all for "turning football in badminton"
As far as the run defense...do you realize that Texas has the top run defense of any team in the Big 12? Do you realize that Texas had a run defense that was better than LSU, Stanford, TCU, Notre Dame?
Did you also know that the longest run we gave up against Georgia was 11 FREAKING YARDS? Georgia's average rush attempt for the entire year was 6 yards, so we gave up 1 play that was 5 yards over their AVERAGE.
Did you also think about the fact that the players are running the scheme given to them by our coaches? Did you know that BJ Foster, Caden Sterns, Boyd, Locke, Jones are not the ones calling the defense that moved into a prevent defense in several late game situations that have proven to make it difficult to execute open field tackles?

Don't fu^k with me..!my kids and theirs turned out just find and all my sisters and brothers the same, look at the kids today, some good, some bad, but, I didn't mess them up, their parents did, they call it Peer pressure and pressure from their over achieving, Parents being poor or being a criminal ain't no excuse for raisin your children right, or drugs, it falls back on kids having kids...you are responsible for your children, they are a direct reflection of you!, if your a sorry person then most of the time they will be too, with some exceptions..

Plus the fact he has a Natl Champ ring, go watch the Rose Bowl and see how he earned it./..Of your list above how many let the other team score TD cause they blew their assignment and how many got run over by a RB on a running play to score? Its a little late for the others right? 5 -10 yrs ago? I like them to be safe also,but, sometimes it doesn't matter what equipment you have on...it happens, if ya start not rushing the QB, which will probably happen sooner or later, what do you have then?, Bottom line is these kids don't care too much except making it to the NFL regardless of how they get there...and they have to knock the shit outa someone to get there or no NFL team would want them if they are not hard hitting its a bad situation and the sad part is half of them will never see the NFL field..

The rules in college have changed drastically. Yes, it sucks, but they have.
Now let's play out this scenario:
It's the 4th quarter. You're up by 10 points. We need the Defense to make a stop so we can get the ball and run the clock.
It's 3rd and long and a WR breaks out into the secondary needing 15 yards for the first down. The DB arrives just as the ¡all gets there and creams the WR.
WR hangs onto the ball and a flag is thrown. The DB gets charged with targeting and is thrown from the game and now the ball goes from being at the 40 yard line all the way to our 30 in FG range with the addition of the 15 yard penalty.
Now a freshman DB has to come off the bench and the secondary is exposed.
The other teams scores a TD and now the game is up for grabs.
This is one of the reasons you don't see hard hitting defense in the fourth quarter when you have a lead. Kids are nervous because they don't want to be the ones responsible for fvcking up and costing the team a win.
Make sense now?
And oh, btw---- our DBs are pretty much the same size of our DBs when I was in school and when Texas won a natty in 2005.
FB, with nothing but love and respect for you, you do realize you picked the unit of our defense that is about to be the envy of every team in the Big 12 and most teams in the country right? This might be the best collection of DBs we’ve ever had at Texas. Time will tell. They are without question a physical bunch. Against Georgia, they were HUGE in stopping the run game. Our secondary had more tackles collectively than our LBs. With the run blitzes Orlando was using, they were instrumental in that game in coming up to make plays as their RBs got to the second level. They tackled very very well that game. I kept waiting for Georgia to bust a big run when our stunts/blitzes didn’t get home and time after time our DBs were in position and made the play. When this secondary is healthy, they are a handful to deal with. The future is sooooo bright at DBU.

Agree with others, the game has changed. Probably for the best health wise, but to the detriment of the rough and tough game it used to be. That said, we have some rough and tough DBs currently and I think our DB play is going to be phenomenal going forward. Herman and Co are recruiting DBs that can shut down the pass AND the run.
I only provided the freshman because virtually all of our DB's are at least the same size as Griffin so I didn't see the necessity of beating the dead horse that is your size argument doesn't hold water. Just admit that you don't think today's football is any good and then quit watching/complaining about the way it is played. I bet you weren't a big fan of the forward pass either were you? How many of our coaches were here when we lost to Kansas? Literally everyone of the kids who "lost to Kansas" were not recruiting by the staff that is here now...get over the fact that things today don't look like they did when we only had black and white tv sets...
Did the guy do his best to help the University of Texas win football games? Did he do anything that gave the University a "black eye"? If the answers to those questions are yes and no respectively, then yes I am a fan.
