Why we have these skinny little assed DB's and CB and Safeties, why don't we recruit some Griffin types?
This should be the rule of the thumb for CB's
This should be the rule of the thumb for CB's
Caden Sterns is already 10lbs heavier than what CG weighed in the NFL. Boyd and Davis were both bigger than CG Too.
But, they wait for the ball carrier, CG went and took their heads off, watch next time how they wait for the ball carrier to come to them, been doing it all yr, noticed it in the middle of the last season
pin in to the topThis thread title would have been just fine without further comment.
It is the modern game and not the players. CG never had to worry about getting ejected for targeting.
BJ Foster waits for the ball carrier. Brilliant observation, as usual. Our whole secondary excelled in tackling, and tackling for losses, even Boyd.
Foster is big, and in the Westbrook level of nasty. Davante Davis was a big physical corner. Bigger than Griffin. Incoming freshman Kenyatta Watson is also bigger than Griffin. Glad we can always count on you to show how clueless you are.

FB, you stated why don't we have big DB's like Griffin, and then it was stated that virtually all of our starting DB's are bigger than Griffin. I don't see the issue, I get that you want to go back to the days of players being knocked unconscious due to big hits, but the reality is that just isn't going to happen due to the rule changes and penalties, but BJ Foster, Sterns, Locke, all had huge memorable hits this past season (Foster with several), I just don't get the confusion. We have big athletes who are big hitters who are doing their absolute best to not get ejected for "highlight reel" hits that guys like Griffin, Vasher, Westbrook, etc got away with.
FB, let me ask you a question? Have you bought a new vehicle in the last say 20 years? When you bought that vehicle, did you ask the manufacturer to take out the additional side curtain airbags, the padded dash, the padded steering wheel, the antilock brakes? No because you realize that those darns things could save you life in the event of a bad crash. Let me also ask, any time your house needs a touch up in the paint department, do you go down to your local hardware store and see if they can add lead back to it? No because you know that crap kills you. If you are building a house, do you ask the contractor to install asbestos tiles in your ceiling? No because you know that crap causes cancer. Now, lets apply that to football. These kids (and lets not forget, they are kids) are playing a game with equipment and rules that has without a doubt saved lives already and will continue to save lives going forward. If changing the rule about the way to tackle people is going to save lives, then yes I am all for "turning football in badminton"They sure wasn't hittin in the 4th quarter when teams came back to beat us was they? They gave up and didn't finish They knew what the risks were when they play, perhaps your one of the Snowflake pussies that turned FB into a Badminton match, all you young people substitute talent for its always about the rule changes, next time a running back runs right thru the D for a 45 yd gain, think of me! Georgia should have never scored them last 2 TD's, the D was riding on the fact we was ahead and not finishing, like I said Herman needs the killer instinct and he needs to teach it and to finish...they may be bigger than Griffin, but they didn't play like him
FB, with all due respect, it seems that you post all positives about the past, and mostly negative stuff about the current. You seem to think that the "good 'ol days" regarding Texas teams and players were the best and nothing today is good compared to "back in the day". I respectfully disagree. Sure, DKR was a great coach and Texas had some good players back then. But guess what - DKR lost games. He made mistakes. He was human. He didn't win it all every year.
Fast forward to the current Texas program under coach Herman. He is getting things back to where they should be. He and the coaching staff are recruiting their asses off. They are coaching their asses off. Texas has some really good players on this team. NFL caliber players. Might I suggest that you try looking forward and not backwards. The past is gone. Its not coming back. All we have is tomorrow and beyond. Negativity does no one any good. Just something to consider.

As far as the run defense...do you realize that Texas has the top run defense of any team in the Big 12? Do you realize that Texas had a run defense that was better than LSU, Stanford, TCU, Notre Dame?
Did you also know that the longest run we gave up against Georgia was 11 FREAKING YARDS? Georgia's average rush attempt for the entire year was 6 yards, so we gave up 1 play that was 5 yards over their AVERAGE.
Did you also think about the fact that the players are running the scheme given to them by our coaches? Did you know that BJ Foster, Caden Sterns, Boyd, Locke, Jones are not the ones calling the defense that moved into a prevent defense in several late game situations that have proven to make it difficult to execute open field tackles?
Come on FB, I know you are old and everything that is screwed up today is because of these "snowflake pussies" as you call it, but have you ever stopped to think about the fact, that maybe the generation who raised us should look in the mirror a little bit to see who raised this generation? Surely it can't be the old folks fault that these kids turned out the way they did. Now take you cane back inside, and quit telling everyone who thinks differently than you to get off your proverbial lawn.
Please explain which part I need to interpret better? Also, did you follow the link?I used Griffin as a reference. metcalf , " your ass kisser" started the shit along with BBR and his smart mouth and what I said was true " no 4th quarter defense" Herman is doing ok, so why would I crap on him, all I said he needs to finish hard, you listen to metcalf and BR then you got a blind dog leading ya around, stop and read the back post, everyone plays FB cause they want to, you don't see very many playing with guns to their head to make them and cml can kiss my as^ with his old man talk, He will get his one day when he gets old,
ASURAM2010 needs to interpret things better, his skills are lacking, maybe he oughta take up ass-kissing!
So it's okay for you to lump people into a category, but when I lump you into one, you don't like it? Is that "fu^k'n" with you? Please explain, I must not have interpreted it correctlyDon't fu^k with me..!my kids and theirs turned out just find and all my sisters and brothers the same, look at the kids today, some good, some bad, but, I didn't mess them up, their parents did, they call it Peer pressure and pressure from their over achieving, Parents being poor or being a criminal ain't no excuse for raisin your children right, or drugs, it falls back on kids having kids...you are responsible for your children, they are a direct reflection of you!, if your a sorry person then most of the time they will be too, with some exceptions..
From the 2001 Football Roster:
Cedric Griffin 6-2 185
From the 2018 Football Roster:
Jalen Green 6-0 185
Anthony Cook 6-0 190
Caden Sterns 6-0 205
BJ Foster 6-2 210
Josh Thompson 6-0 200
Demarvion Overshown 6-3 210
Montrell Estell 6-1 200
D'Shawn Jaminson 5-10 180
There are 8 guys that are virtually the same size as Cedric Griffin at the same time in college. If you are going to spout crap off, at least make sure its accurate.
Yea I tried to just list the freshman (with the exception of Thompson)You forgot Davante Davis at 6'2", 205. yet another bigger than Cedric. Lol

How many of these guys was playing when we lost to Kansas? And where were they Herman's 1st yr? You are countin just 2018, what happen before 2018? 2017?, 2016? Who was that DB or safety that threw his helmet and cried in Manhattan? I have sit here listening to you guys do the same thing for the lat 10yrs, lovin one player, hatin him the next time...well, seems like MG was a stud then? Plus the fact he has a Natl Champ ring, go watch the Rose Bowl and see how he earned it./..Of your list above how many let the other team score TD cause they blew their assignment and how many got run over by a RB on a running play to score? But, on the bright side this Texas team at this time is gonna get better, I don't think you will see anymore mental mistakes like this yr

I think you really nailed it with the title of this thread.
Fb think about this for a second. Its a little late for the others right? 5 -10 yrs ago? I like them to be safe also, but, sometimes it doesn't matter what equipment you have on...it happens, if ya start not rushing the QB, which will probably happen sooner or later, what do you have then?, Bottom line is these kids don't care too much except making it to the NFL regardless of how they get there...and they have to knock the shit outa someone to get there or no NFL team would want them if they are not hard hitting its a bad situation and the sad part is half of them will never see the NFL field..
You shoulda stuck to Mascoting!
I only provided the freshman because virtually all of our DB's are at least the same size as Griffin so I didn't see the necessity of beating the dead horse that is your size argument doesn't hold water. Just admit that you don't think today's football is any good and then quit watching/complaining about the way it is played. I bet you weren't a big fan of the forward pass either were you? How many of our coaches were here when we lost to Kansas? Literally everyone of the kids who "lost to Kansas" were not recruiting by the staff that is here now...get over the fact that things today don't look like they did when we only had black and white tv sets...How many of these guys was playing when we lost to Kansas? Did the guy do his best to help the University of Texas win football games? Did he do anything that gave the University a "black eye"? If the answers to those questions are yes and no respectively, then yes I am a fan.You musta been a Chykie fan!
