We found out last night as to where our FB program is at, lotta injuries and nothing to show for it, shit coaching, shit plays, no SPEED, The speed that we advertised is not there? Pooka is SPEED is what we need, you can actually see his Fastness, ROJO is close, but, not that close, you got to wonder just WTF is Herman doing? Maybe he can get Greg Davis back, cause Hermans plays remind me of Early MB and GD days, if ya don't believe it look back and study somethings close, I think Herman is actually trying to copy MB..MB told him how to navigate thru Texas Waters, so why not how to make money like he did on Shit things, look at how many PlugnPlays MB went thru and its just startin for Herman, blame it on a asst Coach and not yourself is how ya survive for a while anyway, I don't think that everything about Hermans been told...

I understand Xs and Os about as well as anyone. Football hasn't changed. It's the kids that have changed. The Xs and Os aren't where we are failing. We are failing with the kids.

This week needs to be full pad and full contact every damn day! If somebody gets hurt in practice from getting hit so be it. I’ve watched freshman football teams this year that play with more physicality than this team. Our offensive line can’t block air these days. That was a gutless performance by the defense tonight and if I was Herman or Orlando I would run those guys till they puked today and then run them some more!

Old School shit!

To those that know better than I do. How easy is it to scheme against our defense? I mean I can pretty much tell you when we are going to blitz and when we are just rushing 3. I can also see who is going to be open on most plays by how much cushion we give everyone, and I don’t know shit about schemes. I has to be a piece of cake for offensive coordinators.

It looks like we are running a 3-3-5 most downs. If you run that type of D most downs you are going to bring an extra guy from somewhere. That is where it can get complicated. Sometimes its called from the sideline and sometimes its a read based on formation. If you are bringing a guy with coverage responsibility then the guys playing behind need to know where they are supposed to be in coverage. It can get really complicated depending on formation, scheme and routes. For example if the # 2 receiver goes vertical then the its man on that side and those guys lock up and play man. If the same receiver goes breaks off the route its zone. It seems like we are running some really complicated coverages and pressure packages and guys are getting lost.

The other thing that makes it really easy to move the ball on us is that we can't get pressure with 4. Everyone knows this. QBs have all day to scan the field and throw. We are 98th in Sacks per game and 118th in sacks allowed per game. That isn't winning football.

Well obviously our guys can’t understand their assignments, they need to change something. This will be Herman’s test, if he can make this mash unit improve he might be alright. If not and he remains stubborn to change then that will be his undoing.

We won. I repeat we won the game. Never really seen a fan base ready to fire a coach after a win. We’re still ranked 15, deservedly so. Great final drive. Dicker the kicker!! Losing teams would have folded under same circumstances. We won. On to the next game.

Herman is 5-2, 2 losses against obvious better, deeper teams. We took both of them to the wire. Herman doesn’t have the full stable of horses yet. How many key injuries this season? Let’s see how he finishes the year. I’m still projecting 10-2 and a second shot against OU in the BXIICG.

Ok, obviously I’m a Herman sympathiser. He better f^cking win the next one.

Considering the excessive injuries, i expected a dropoff in the secondary but I did not expect Sam to be playing the game on his back.

Our 2 losses are 2 we were supposed to lose but against osu, wv, & kFREAKINGu we've looked lost and and outclassed. Let's be real here, kansas should never be a toss up after the half.

10-2 looks like a dream scenario now. Did you see how bad baylor whooped up on Osu? Yeah..... me thinks we're gonna have major problems with the pedobears and everyone else we play this year.

A win is a win but good lord we have some issues to be fixed.

Against OSU and Kansas, it was our turnovers after we had put the game away that made it close. Take away Sam's INT and Jake's fumble, we will by double digits.
Get a little conservative on the 4th down calls or make the yard as, then we possibly win by 20. The offense let us down more than the defense against Kansas. Special teams against OSU.

Things are not as bad as some people here make it out to be. These are very correctable.

What are you going to say after Texas loses to both Baylor and ISU? Also, there is no guarantee that the Horns win against TCU, KSU and Tech either. What if they lose one, two, or all three of those? This team is a mess and regressing. At a very minimum, Herman should fire Orlando tomorrow, and if he refuses, tell him that either you fire him, or you're fired. Texas is LAST in defense in the Big 12. Think about that. If that doesn't bother the hell out of you, something is wrong.

I have a little bit of of forgiveness on defense due to having almost zero starters playing but offense should be pretty elite with who all we have playing.

Yes, we're short on rb but they aren't even the problem. O-line has shit the bed. This is Beck and Herb Hand territory. I havnt been on the shag or surley or whatever it's called in a long while but I bet there's a go fund me to fly a banner about Beck & Hand by now.

I don’t get the OL. It’s puzzling.

Herman and Riley are perfect examples of what the deal is imo. Both Riley and Herman made their names as OC’s right? Who the hell knows if they’re good head coaches? I’m not sure Riley’s arrangement with OU but I know one thing it’s very doubtful OU’s offense would be near as potent if Riley handed the OC duties to someone else and he was just the HC. Strong and Muschamp are good examples of good coordinators but not head coaches.
If I’m Texas I start looking for the next young up and comer. If he’s an Great OC then require him to call plays or visa versa for defense. Why teams hire really good Coordinators and then give them HC duties only makes no sense to me.

We were told Herman took over offensive play calling after the Maryland game last year and Herman called the plays through the entire rest of the season. The offense took a huge step forward last year.

I don’t know if that has changed for this season that would be news to me and although there have been some questionable play calls and general lack of flow it’s the defense that’s the main problem this season. But the defense is absolutely decimated by injuries right now so it’s hard to make a judgment there either. After losing eight defensive starters from last season now another six starters are injured.

Decimated is a kind term for how completely screw our defens is.

Devil's advocate -- Herman would say we aren't dead last, because we might be giving up yards but we are limiting scoring (that is, until the Kansas game)

Welp, that argument is out the window. If Texas loses to ISU and Baylor, Herman is going to face big-time pressure to make changes on his staff, or his job will be at risk.

I don't think so. The basketball team has been much worse much more consistently and CDC has stood by him. Look at how many times Patterson had bad years at TCU an CDC stood by him. It would take multiple losing seasons for Herman's job to be at risk, under this administration

I disagree. Football is different than other sports expectation-wise and football expectations are very different at Texas than at TCU. It's not solely CDC's decision to make. He'll get a ton of pressure from the regents and BMD's if football has five losses this year and doesn't get it righted in 2020. Things could get ugly real quick for Herman if this happens.

OK well now your scenario is different. Given 7-5 season in 2019 and and a 7-5 season in 2020, I could see him being on the hot seat.

We still have one of the better offenses (when clicking). Texas took an early lead on Kansas and then got caught looking at the cheerleaders until they realized it was a game. Score still shows we won.

We haven’t played either ISU or Baylor yet. Will let you know after each of those games. I’m a koolaid drinker so I’m still seeing close Texas wins in both of those. Neither team is on the level of LSU and OU. And I think we’ll be more physical in both of those games.

But a Baylor win wouldn’t surprise me and since my $250k went there for my daughter I’d be ok with that.
