He'll most likely only get off if there are discrepancies in the indictment. Discrepancies include the victim or witnesses lying, lack of sufficient evidence in the state law he's charged with, etc.

Land thief has some substance behind it though. I find it strange that a university would choose a nickname for its athletic teams that advertises the fact that many people went into Oklahoma and claimed land before they were allowed to do so.

That's because they got their philosophy from social Darwinism at the time. First one to claim land is the first one to keep it...regardless of the whistle-blowing.
And we continue to see that attitude today as Stoops will do anything to win despite the whistle-blowing.
Anything? Would you expand on this and agree that there is nothing Stoops wouldnt do for a win? Does this include paying players and buying the recruitment of the nation's best athletes? It has to include an absolute refusal to dismiss or suspend anyone for anything they have ever done. As an Ou fan i know full well that the dirty little secret in norman is that in 17 seasons at OU, Stoops has never suspended, or kicked off any kid for anything. I'm not sure why the media has reported otherwise but it's a lie. there's a rumor, of course it's true but officially still a rumor that stoops tells his players that if they want to rape coeds they have to do it within the confines of his estate so it can be controlled. That was mixon's problem, is that after raping a few girls that night, he went back out on his odyssey and got busted outside the stoops manor. Big no no. It goes without saying that he pays players, there's video of him handing cash to guys in his office as well as buying them cars for commitments. A clear example of that is the recruitment of phillips. They lost him to lsu because while OU did offer a fully loaded hummer with a bag of cash, what he really wanted wasa tesla. Stoops dropped the ball hardcore on that one despite Boren putting a limit on the cost of cars that OU offers to recruits. You see, saban keeps it under $50k and flies under the radar.

No, it praises breaking the law for personal gain. After using the law to break treaties. If the Comanches hadn't already been disarmed, the land couldn't have been stolen.
Regardless of their historical merits, neither are good insults in this context. If you are breaking out the history books for proper citation for your insult to college football fans, you are doing it wrong. They are lame as neither party (OU being called land thieves or UT being called tsips) takes any offense nor does it have any resonation with them.
