I was very vocal during the week of the Big 12 Tournament that I didn't really care what happened as long as Texas won its first game and locked up a No.2 seed.

We've just seen so many times that teams struggle to carry over three or four days of intense basketball into two more days of intense basketball the following week.

Look no further than Texas a few years ago with Shaka. Wins the Big 12 Tournament and loses to ACU.

To that end, Arizona and Purdue were shells of the teams they had been just the week before, while Memphis, Duke and Marqueete can probably be added to that list.

HOWEVER...

I think the Big 12 Tournament turned out to be a massive turning point for the team and that second win over Kansas in a week sent them to the moon from a confidence standpoint. I'm not sure they are here right now without it. Maybe they still would be, but maybe not.

It sure didn't hurt them and it feels like a whole lot more good was done than anything else.

THEREFORE.... to my dear friend RLong...

You were right and I was wrong.
