We've had seven tough years everybody that's been looking for a chance to beat us has done it. I hope they enjoyed it because it's going to stop.

Tom Herman just has the gift not just to be a good coach but a great coach. He has that something that you can't put into words but you know its there.

The talent is there and it appears that a good recruiting class will be coming into Austin in the fall. That means we finally have 4 complete classes.

It starts on Labor Day Weekend when the Horns play host to Maryland.

No more underachieving its time to win they way were supposed to.

If Herman has 3 LOSING seasons in a row I hope Texas fires him.....just like they did poor old Vince Lombardi....I mean Charlie Strong. Some of you amaze me. How many years of being embarrassed by Iowa St. and Kansas do you all need to see Strong can't coach???? I guarantee you any coach who does the same thing at Texas will and SHOULD BE fired.

If Tom Herman doesn't do well at Texas it will shock me and a lot of other people. If he goes on to win big will you people whining over Strong being fired give him credit for it?

I will say this if Herman at Texas were a stock I would buy it. Doesn't mean I am positive he will do it but I sure think he will.

I think Herman exceeds the 2005 version, which seems impossible. But I believe he's a coach that will have these guys playing with more consistency, discipline and controlled intensity each and every week, every year. I also believe he's not going to need any single transcendent player to accomplish this perennially. To me that's the mark of a great coach.

If by chance Herman does not come out in 2017 and light the world on fire, some Texas fans can always fall back on the ol' tried and true "we're young....again" I mean it's been a mantra for a few fans since 2010.

I may use the "young" excuse as to why they may not win the conference but they should be in every game this year. No excuse not to be. They also have to learn how to win. Which is important I think.

Playing good fundamental football goes a long ways in this league, any league really. Missed tackles, poor tackling etc. have been the Achilles heel for many teams in this no defense league. Gary Patterson and Bill Snyder's teams used to be very consistent in these categories more so than the rest of the Big 12. If Herman can bring that discipline with him then UT will be good.

Your post seems so 2016 Yes, Texas has the latest NC and is also coming off the worst 3 year stretch of football that I can remember. The only one truly laughing here is Strong, ....all the way to the bank. Here's to a great 2017. I'm thinking you can find a way to put all the Bob Stoops hate behind you and find a way to root for the Big 12 bell cow later this evening for the good of the conference. We are Big 12! right?

I agree with this. Strong was incompetent at Texas and got himself fired for being so bad. One of the worst coaches in UT history.

I wouldn't know where to start if betting on our win/loss next season. Honestly, I truly felt the 2016 team should have been an 8-10 win team. The only thing holding them back was a serviceable QB that could somewhat throw the ball.
In comes SB, exactly what we needed to give our ground game a little breathing room to operate. Low and behold our defense was still as clueless as a gay guy in a whore house. 2017 should be markedly improved due to our favorable schedule but again, I can't figure these guys out at all.

I honestly believe qb was the least of your probs. I believe your OC got stale. Don't forget in the RRS, if our corner Thomas hadn't had a heck of a game, Texas may have won. I think he broke up 3 sure fire touchdown passes.

Bell...I have repeatedly stated on here that I always hoped OU won every game but the RRS. I USED to have a reason for that. Back in the day when we were relevant Nationally, it was important for out ranking that OU was also ranked high. These days I have to question if that has as much value when we suck. I am hopeful that we are now back on track. My hands quiver a bit now as I am still in Koolaide recovery for going on 2 months now.

OK Bell....I hope OU wins. It will not change the fact that OU sucks....and where is my old friend Fizzwilley?

MM- Strong was bad and I mean but not incompetent. He did one thing that I would say, good. He recruited some pretty good kids. Incompetent means he didn't do ANYTHING right. Everyone has to say he did well recruiting but got damn sucked at everything else. Herman should do fine with what is left and what he recruits
