If Trump were able to staff his administration without Senate obstructionism, if he were not devoting much of his time having to deal with Mueller then an impeachment that was a symbol rather than a true effort, if he had even a semblance of acceptance of his winning victory in the electoral college by the opposition, do you think the federal agencies might have functioned better 3 years into his administration?
This needs to be a lesson for America as we go forward. The federal government exists for things like national defense and pandemics have hit us harder than wars since our founding. When one side decides to cripple the other's ability to govern because it appeals to the base, we have dysfunctional government. Republicans obstructed Obama and Democrats obstructed Bush particularly in his second term, but it has been escalating ever since Nixon and has reached a level that is dangerous to our well being. Either we need a revolution and a new form of government that will keep more people happy, or we need as voters to allow congress to let the executive branch function, regardless of who is in there.
