Here is what Wes Mitchell of GamecockCentral.com said about Texas hiring Coleman Hutzler:
"The first thing your readers are going to notice about Coleman Hutzler is he's a high-energy guy, one of those 24/7/365 guys who is always amped up whether it's on the practice field, at high school camps, or even with the media. He's excitable and a likable guy.
"At South Carolina, he had the special teams units and the linebackers. He did a great job with the punters and kickers. Joseph Charlton leaves the program this year as the school's all-time best punter. Granted, some of that is natural ability, but Charlton's consistency definitely improved from his early years on campus and kicker Parker White has been solid the last two seasons after struggling in his first year with the job.
"The kickoff return teams have been good, when South Carolina has had the caliber athlete needed to make plays at the kickoff return spot. With Deebo Samuel back there (now making plays as a Rookie with the 49ers), Carolina was outstanding in the return game, and Samuel had four career kickoff returns for touchdowns in 42 attempts, tying him for the all-time best number in SEC history.
"That unit seemed to take a step back without Samuel available, but the numbers are actually pretty similar this year compared to last. Either way, point remains the same, if you have a guy that can make plays to put back there, Hutzler will be able to produce a good, fundamentally sound blocking unit to put in front of them to make some plays.
"The linebacker play has been a bit difficult to judge here due to the number of injuries up front, particularly two and three seasons ago, and inconsistent defensive line play in front of the 'backers. But with much better defensive line play this past season, the linebacking corps was probably the most improved unit on the team.
"Hutzler worked with Will Muschamp at Florida in the same role and he re-hired him at South Carolina, so he obviously has the Muschamp stamp of approval, which carries weight, particularly with a defensive coach. I also recall defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson calling Hutzler the best linebackers coach in the country, in a media setting. Obviously, there may be some hyperbole there for the media, but Hutzler is a clearly a well-respected coach here at South Carolina and should bring a ton of daily energy to the job at Texas."
