Cliff-notes:
The Longhorns picked up one monster of a commitment commitment o Friday when superstar Tucson (Arizona) Salpointe running back Bijan Robinson committed to Tom Herman, Stan Drayton and the rest of the Texas staff.

Rankings: Robinson is a 6.0 high-four star prospect in the current Rivals.com rankings and is currently slotted as the No.4 running back and the No.26 overall prospect in the Rivals 2020 national rankings. Robinson ranks as the No.2 player in the state of Arizona.

Key Offers: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC.

Evaluation: There's literally nothing about Robinson to nitpick in terms evaluating him as a potential big-time star at the collegiate level, as he brings every aspect to the table you could possibly want. Game-changing abilities? Check. Versatility? Check. Great feet? Check. Tremendous vision? Check. The ability to thrive inside the tackles and out? Check. Seriously, it's all there and if we're having a conversation about the best running backs in the country, it's probably fair to point out that Robinson's success doesn't come behind a dominant offensive line. Robinson is at his best when he's going downhill and making one-cut decisions that allow for him to find space and create big plays, but his ability to stop and start as a means of humiliating opposing defenders is one of my favorite things to watch.

Former Texas player he reminds me of: Jamaal Charles

What Rivals said about him after the Rivals Five Star Challenge in June: "There are three five-star running backs ranked ahead of Robinson in Zachary Evans, Demarkcus Bowman and Kendall Milton, but no player at that position had a better summer than Robinson, who was completely dominant at the Five-Star Challenge. He showed off terrific speed, awesome hands and playmaking ability that maybe no other running back in this class can show. There are bigger between-the-tackles backs in this class, but Robinson could be the best overall playmaker at the position."

What Mike Farrell said about him after the Rivals Five Star Challenge in June: "Robinson is an interesting one because he could be a pure running back or an all-purpose back and he could easily work out of the spread as a slot receiver. He reminds me a bit of Miles Sanders, who was a high four-star and had a solid career at Penn State but never reached that five-star status. Four five-star running backs would be a bit much, but if he's talented enough, why not? Each of these running backs brings something different to the table and Robinson is probably the most versatile.

Why it matters: The Longhorns have signed a few five-star running back prospects over the years, but perhaps no one as dynamic as Robinson since the Longhorns landed Jamaal Charles in the Class of 2005. The Longhorns have struggled to add nationally elite running back prospects in recruiting for years, which has caused Texas running backs coach Stan Drayton to come under some rightful fire for his lack of power punching as a recruiter, but the commitment of Robinson answers those questions loud and clear. Along with Vernon Broughton and Hudson Card, today's commitment ranks as one of the most important of the year and in the entire decade.
