Give the assist on this one to the Texas Junior Day.

Just a couple of days after leaving the Texas Junior Day, Rowlett defensive end LSR 100 named the Longhorns his leader, and Strong and his staff moved in on the defensive end quick, made it known he was wanted, and locked him up.

About Omenihu…
Listed at 6-5, this defensive lineman's stock is starting to warm up and should really heat up soon. On film, the first thing that stands out about the Rowlett product is his ability at the point of attack. He has a strong understanding of how to use his hands, and how to intelligently take on blocks in order to make a play while also filling gaps in an impressive manner. You'll notice on tape that his motor never seems to stop, and that he's not afraid to stick his nose into any collision.

Currently, Omenihu is about 220 points, but is slender up top with some long arms. This is a player that could probably end up at something like 270 in college as a strongside end that is a load to handle near the line of scrimmage because of his understanding of leverage and his ability at the point of attack. He's better against the run than pass at this point, but he's quick enough with the tools to develop into someone that could get after the passer some from a strongside spot.

Last season, Omenihu was very productive and stood out all year, including in playoff game against Longview.

Omenihu is currently rated as the No. 2 defensive end in the state.

What does this mean for Texas?
Well, it means its Junior Day resulted in another commitment, and it also shows that the Texas staff identified a prospect it likes earlier than some other schools, and moved on him decisively. Texas needs to take a pretty large defensive line class, and Omenihu is a good place to start at defensive end.
