Back during the last impeachment I ran across a historical example of a Judge being triEd in the Senate after impeachment. He was found not guilty but they then voted on the second penalty for impeachment - prohibition against holding a federal office in the future. The second vote passed and he was prohibited.
I don’t think there are going to be enough Republican votes to convict Trump however there might be enough to prohibit future office - especially if they can cast a not guilty vote first.
Just a weird twist theoretically possible.
