I just spoke with the father of Terrace Marshall Jr. tonight to get an update on his UT official visit.
Some highlights ...
Marshall has already visited Texas, Florida State and Texas A&M. He had a visit to Alabama scheduled for November 3 but cancelled that one. He will not be rescheduling so it appears Bama is all but out of this one. He will still visit LSU on November 24.
According to Marshall, Sr., the Texas visit went very, very well. The family loved the facilities, the atmosphere at the game and the time spent with the UT coaches. Texas really stressed that it needs players of Marshall's caliber to help take the program to the next level.
I asked Mr. Marshall about the perception that LSU is the leader and any of the out-of-state programs would basically have to pry Terrace away from the in-state school. He said that's a misconception, and to say there would be any "prying away" was inaccurate. All four schools are still being considered and are on even footing right now, he said.
My thinking after talking to Mr. Marshall is that this one is pretty much down to LSU and Texas. The Tigers will still be tough to beat, in my opinion, but the Longhorns did impress the entire family over the weekend visit and I think there's clear separation between LSU/Texas and A&M/Florida State.
The plan is for Marshall to have a decision on December 22.
