Coming off a dominating performance on the road against LSU, Texas hosts legendary Head Coach, John Calipari, and his Arkansas Razorbacks who are coming off an impressive performance beating the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. Here’s what RT had to say about the upcoming matchup and his team’s stride as of late:
When asked about the key characteristics of a John Calipari lead team and their recent struggles, Terry emphasized that he has always gotten players and talented ones of that. He’s been an all-time great recruiter but has also been a guy that has managed players well throughout the years. Terry later reiterated that he wouldn’t necessarily call Arkansas a struggling team as of right now, especially coming off their latest win.

In past years Former Longhorn players such as Tyrese Hunter faced off against his former team in Iowa State, and with a similar scenario in Tramon Mark playing his former team Arkansas, Rodney Terry states that leaning into the narrative of ‘these are some of your guys go get them’ is not really one that he can lean on since Arkansas only has one player returning from last year.

When asked about his relationship with Head Coach John Calipari, he emphasized how well Calipari has been to him and they’re very close. Dating back to his days coaching at UNC Wilmington, that was where Calipari and RT really had a strong connection and bond as coaches.

Following a devastating loss in Oxford, Coach Rodney Terry and the team made the decision to stay instead of traveling back to Austin, where RT told the squad that they will find a silver lining in this situation, despite being disappointed in the outcome they will find a positive in this and prep the right way against LSU, and boy did they.

Texas Hosts Arkansas Wednesday, February 5th at 8:00CT on ESPN 2, Here’s the outlook of where Texas was projected heading into Baton Rouge, it’ll be interesting to see where Joe Lunardi and CO. have the Horns projected after their win:
