Rockdale ATH Jaquayln Crawford has had a busy schedule of visits up to this point in his recruitment, and he has no plans of slowing down.

Crawford has already been on the campuses of TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Tulsa. He'll be at Baylor in a couple weeks and Texas Tech in March. Crawford will not be able to attend the Texas junior day on February 25, but there's good news for the Longhorns.

"I’ll be at Texas on the 26th," Crawford said, indicating he'll visit the day after UT's junior day event. "The coaches said that fits better for a few guys.

"I’ll also go to a few spring practices. I'll probably go to a few Texas practices, TCU, places around here."

Early leaders: The 5-10, 163-pound Crawford has already cut his list of favorites down to six schools, although he had been keeping that information to himself before OB caught up with him.

"I actually secretly cut my list down to about six to make it easier on myself," Crawford said. "In no order, it's Texas, TCU, SMU, (Texas) Tech, Baylor and Colorado."

With Colorado being the one outlier among five in-state schools, Crawford detailed what has the Buffs in his grouping of favorites.

"From what I’ve heard, their coach is really cool. I’ve heard it's beautiful there. I love the offer, being in the Pac 12, it's just something different. I like a lot about it," Crawford said.

Thoughts on the Longhorns: Crawford has always had the Longhorns high on his list, and those close to him also have an affinity for Texas.

"I like Texas. It’s really close to home. Where I’m from, my family, everybody loves Texas," Crawford said. "To have an opportunity to play for a school everybody in your community and family roots for is a big deal.

"I like the vibe there. I've talked to the coaches on both sides of the ball. They told me I could play early on both sides of the ball. If I go there, and there are four wide receivers in front of me, I could flip over to defensive back. I like the offense a lot, what coach (Tom) Herman did at Houston."

Versatile, but with a preference: Different schools are recruiting Crawford for different positions, and while Crawford is open to playing on either side of the ball, he'd prefer to focus on offense.

"It varies. Different schools have different needs. When I first got recruited by TCU, which was one of my first offers, it was strictly for defense," Crawford said. "Vandy offered me for defense. I guess it's whatever I fit into a program, what they need, how I fit there.

"I prefer to play offense. Who doesn't want the ball in his hands to make plays? But really, when It comes down to it, if I can go and be a true freshman, be a corner or nickel for somebody, I'll do that."

Planning to take his time: Crawford said he is not intending to make a quick decision.

"I want to take my time for sure. Go see more places. I really want to see what I’m looking at at the end of spring, see my offers, see what things look like offer wise. I plan to graduate early, so that’s obviously going to make my decision have to come a little earlier. I don’t see that being a problem. I'll see how my senior season goes, but I don't really want to have to worry about (recruiting)," Crawford said. "So I may try to have a decision before my senior season begins."
