Unbelievably, I have to come to Jimbo's defense. Apparently people were crying about Jimbo grabbing a kid's face mask after a stupid mistake.

Really?

F'ing seriously????

Man F*** this damn pussified society already! There's plenty reasons not to like Jimbo, but grabbing a facemask? Tha f*** outta here. I'd much rather have a coach that'll snatch a facemask for stupidity, than one that feels bad about yelling at his players, making them feel bad. This is a complete joke.

EDIT: ok it looks like it was just a reporter in the post game press conference. Still, why is this even a question?

Man yall are such whiners......our coaches used "cattle prods" and when u did something wrong they would zap you for 10 seconds up to a minute at a time.......well not really but figured that would out do any of you lol

I do think there is an overreaction to this, but think about it if it went the other way...think how bad everyone would be crucifying the player if Jimbo did something stupid and the player went and grabbed him up by the collar of his shirt...kid would be on the first bus back to where ever he came from. Do I think it is a big deal? No, but I think you can get the same point across while keeping your hands off the players.

My high school coach swung the whistle at our best running back in practice. Hit him so hard on the helmet that the whistle broke from the lanyard and shot about 10' in the air and 50' away. Was whistling the whole way......we all lost it. Even coach had to walk away to hold it together.

Uhhh....wat? You been hittin' the hippie lettuce this morning? How the hell can you even bring up the roles being reversed? There is no role reversal. It's the coach's job to discipline the players, period. There is no scenario where the reverse happens. None.

Frankly, this is the kind of patty cake attitude that is crumbling society. Thanks a lot for that. "Without putting his hands on him"...jfc cry me a river why don't you. The player even stood up for the coach because he knew the coach was in the right. Tha f*** outta with that weak sauce.

When I played, coaches would whip players legs (in gym shorts) with their whistle lanyard, hit you over the helmet with their whistle, grab your facemask, grab you by the jersey, knock you over the head with a clipboard and throw something at you to get your attention. Football is a tough sport for the tough minded. That said, we may not have always liked our coaches, but we respected them. Today's society needs to toughen up and quit being a bunch of pu**ys!

My old high school coach was a mean SOB. His funeral had more former players than friends and family combined. He made many a boy into a man, and we all respected him for it.

Sometimes in the moment you really need to get your point across and you don't feel like the body language is appropriate. In this case eye contact was not there so coach manually adjusted the players head using an available tool in order to ensure corrective feedback was being properly interpreted.

At what age would you as a player still accept this treatment from a coach?

When I was a kid I had no problem because they were adults and I was a kid. I can't imagine I would appreciate it much as a 36 year old adult. I didn't play in college so I don't know how I would take it at that age but at some point I would think it becomes a slippery slope. You don't punish a man the same as a boy. I can't recall seeing this much in the NFL, at least not recently.

For me it's.
High School - Fine
College - Wouldn't like it but probably let it go
NFL - I'm a grown ass man and you better not put your hands on me.

Had an Oline coach in high school that should be in the HOF... he's passed away now, but his favorite saying was "come off the ball!". If you committed a false start, all was forgiven if you a$$ plowed the dude you were supposed to block. If you pulled up, you were tortured without mercy. He once told a kid that wasn't coming off the ball hard enough "Son, I'm gonna go down to the only sex toy store in town, buy a giant didlo, and ram it right up your a$$ and then maybe you'll come off the ball."

My favorite "Son, if I had a rocket, I'd strap it to your a$$ and send you to the moon!".

In the off season, we would pull railroad ties in plowed dirt. If you weren't giving the full effort.... "boy, we're going to have a three legged race to the hospital. Now get your ass in gear!"
