We're trying to finalize plans for Kauai in June and are concerned about huge lines due to road construction induced traffic. I would appreciate any insight on this.
My wife found some mentions of shutdowns starting in June in the Hanalei/Princeville area. The only thing I could find is phase 2 of shoring up the road against more mudslides. We were there 4 or 5 years ago and they were only letting buses go all the way to the Napali coast trail, but we couldn't get reservations because we didn't know in advance. She tried to make bus reservations early this time, but they mysteriously end a few days before we were planning to get there, raising a few red flags.
It appears that this area had hours long delays through most of 2021, effectively shutting down tourism. So we don't want to accidentally end up in that mess.
