It's that time again. Annual physical time. And now that I'm 50, it's important to keep an eye on things. In the past couple years, I've had my first colonoscopy and a stress test to check out a heart number that didn't look right. I'm doing all right, but I've also been feeling a couple things I need to talk to the doctor about. That's a big part of it. Know when something is up and get it looked at. That's what I'm doing this week.
That's also why I feel so strongly about Sinus & Snoring Specialists when it comes to sleep, allergies, and sinus issues. I knew I was a snorer back in the day, but I didn't take it seriously enough. I'm glad I got things looked at in 2017. I wish I had done it sooner. I'm just glad I didn't let the sleep apnea and allergy issues continue to get worse. Who knows what kinds of other problems I may have dealt with.
So, if it's time for your physical, get it done. Make sure to tell them about your sleep issues if you haven't yet. They'll probably recommend an ENT visit, and then you can set it up at Sinus & Snoring.
And if you know what the issue is, but you just haven't pulled the trigger and gotten the appointment set, make a promise to yourself to get it done. Have a loved one set it for you if you are super busy. Just get it done.

* Now, on to the season like no other. We're less than 160 days from The Horns in Columbus.
I have already talked about how special I think the 2025 football season is for Texas. Arch Manning happens once. And Texas fans know they'll probably get two years of him as a starter. But there are two things to keep in mind about 2026 that makes 2025 even more crucial.
- In 2026, a new SEC schedule is coming for every team, and we don't know what changes and what stays the same. So...
1) 2025 is the year you have SOME control over the Arch craziness. You know who you play and where. You know about those 3 big road games. But you also know you go to Lexington, Nashville, and Starkville. Feels doable. What do you think the SEC is gonna do with the Texas schedule in 2026? Where would you send Arch? Two places come to mind, right? Oxford feels so easy. A drone camera flies over The Grove, we cut to the speed limit 18 signs with mentions of Archie and Eli, and then to the field where #16 is taking pre-game reps. The TV networks won't want to miss that one. How about Knoxville? That one feels easy too. Uncle Peyton is decked out in bright orange talking to Cooper on the field who's rocking burnt orange. In 2026, Texas COULD travel to both of those plus College Station and Fayetteville. It could happen. It probably won’t, but never think you have the SEC offices figured out. And the conference would almost be dumb not to do some of that. So don't waste the season before the real circus begins. You think this year will be wild with Arch? Year 2 could be extra silly.
2) You don't know what the 2026 schedule looks like for you... and your rivals. But you KNOW 2025 is the second half of a 2-year "favor" from the SEC to welcome The Horns.
* Check this out… There are 8 teams in the conference that won 9+ and had a winning record in SEC play (TX, UGA, TN, AL, LSU, SC, Ole Miss, Mizz). Texas plays 1 of those teams in 2025 (@UGA).
1! Wow.
To compare teams you might care about, LSU plays 3 of them, A&M and UGA play 4, Bama, Ark, and FL each play 5. BTW, Arkansas plays 4 of those 5 on the road (@TX, @TN, @LSU, and @ole Miss). And, just like last season, the team that gets crushed in scheduling is OU. They play 7 of the 8 teams in this discussion, including games at SC, TN, and Bama. 7 of the 8.
Texas took advantage of this scheduling gift last season with a second straight trip to the semis, they beat A&M and Arkansas on the road, and smashed OU for the second straight time in Dallas. And this year, many think they are upgrading at QB.
Starting in 2026, we don't know anything about schedules. Will Texas play OU, A&M, and Arkansas? Probably. But nothing is in stone yet. The 3 rivals for The Horns are all struggling to some degree right now. Two of them had losing conference records, and the other stumbled to the end and didn't win 9 games. Texas does not play any of them on the road this season, and should beat all 3, maybe easily. Texas needs to keep their foot on the neck as long as possible. This could be the year that leads OU towards their next coach. 2025 could, at the very least, tell the Aggies they may need another OC. And 2026 could be the season that the SEC evens up scheduling for OU and Arkansas and makes it tougher on UT. Will Arkansas and OU play each other in 2026? Will A&M play OU in 2026? Will the SEC decide 2026 is the season to go to 9 conference games? We'll have to wait and see on all that. But change is coming.
2025 is the season for Texas to strike. The iron is hot, while the schedule and the rivals are not.
2026 is the season it all changes. Navigating that SEC, even with Arch, could feel very different.
