Someone explain to me how Latinos have it better than Blacks in today’s America?
- We face the same, if not more racism that Blacks overall, on average. Certainly in social or work settings, Latinos don’t get the free pass Blacks often do by whites who don’t want to come across as racists.
- We take most of the menial work as cleaners, bussers, nannies, gardeners, ditch diggers, cooks and the list can go on forever. On top of that, they get made fun of for doing it.
- “Build the Wall”. How this message / movement / plan negatively affected the treatment of Latino American citizens cannot be overstated and nobody ‘effing talked about it or cared outside the Latino community. My kids who are half-white we’re even teased at school. As an executive, I have also taking shit for it.
- Latinos make up approx. 18% of the US population; which is more than the 12% that are Black. Now, I know that the comparison is between race and ethnicity, but pay attention to the next 20 TV commercials, movies or TV shows and you will see how underrepresented the Brown population is in comparison to Blacks and Asians.
- Latinos, specifically Mexicans and Mexican-Americans were lynched by the 1000’s in the late 1800s and early 1900’s. Read up if you don’t know the history.
- BTW, how much funding and backing does the Latino Studies program get from the University of Tejas? I’m sure its not even close to those received by the African-American studies programs, yet the state of Texas has very deep roots to Mexican culture ...or should.
- Latinos have and continue to face just as much police brutality as Blacks. They are documented and videos exist but there is no outcry other than local city support and you certainly don’t see black and woke whites joining in the chants.
- Latinos don’t have the same athletic avenues that Blacks do to make a career out of a sport or get a free education. Should something be done to even the odds? After all, if we are going to create programs to help traditionally under-utilized groups, why stop with skin color?

1. I make this comparison in hopes of having people realize that it’s not only a Black issue and in my opinion much of the current movement is an overreaction. I know it won’t be popular but I guess I’m a fanatic.
2. I believe something needs to be done about police brutality, but minorities need to accept that much of the problem has to do with their actions, culture and other social-economic issues than the police.
2. I do believe there is still racism in the US and work needs to be done to continue educating all people. I mean ALL people.
3. Stop breaking the law and stop resisting arrest!
4. Every individual needs to look inward and ask themselves what can I do to help, regardless of race or ethnicity. By inward, I mean be willing to accept that improvements need to be made in Family Culture, Race Culture and Social Culture? Start there first before relying on others. This is where I believe efforts need to be targeted and will produce better results. I’m sure I will get blasted and maybe banned for this, but those are my thoughts from a different minority perspective.
