Les Miles fired

Best option for Herman, I don't think UT or AtM jobs are opening at end of year.

Great talent base in Louisiana for the right coach but I do not think changes of a head coach should be made during the season, its not the NFL.These are college kids he recruited.Do you really think you can bring in a coach to beat Alabama,Ole Miss this year???

Wth is going on in Baton Rouge? Let the man finish the season see what happens. Look, let me tell ya what I think is going to happen in the SEC this year. 13 of their 14 teams are all going to beat each other up, and all of them will have at least two losses by the time Thanksgiving weekend comes and goes. The 14th team is Bama and we all know they will run the table.

I think 8 wins is a must. The Big 12 is really down right now, and the Notre Dame win lost its luster. If he can't win 8 in a down year for the Big 12, it's time to make a change.

I see us winning at least 9 this year. When your team is overly dependent on freshman sophomores lke ours is you are going to have an unfortunate setback like we did at Cal last week. I think were fine.

And we may have to face the fact that Baylor could very well run the table as well. If they avoid injuries they're more than capable of doing it. Last night I could see the difference between Jim Grobe and Art Briles in that they were a much more disciplined team defensively. The only teams that could challenge them are Texas and maybe West Virginia.

I think the bar for Charlie may have gotten a little higher.

This Okie St. game is a pretty big deal.
I agree with you. I would not be surprised to see Texas pursue Herman, without substantial defensive improvements this year.

I would say the name probably has been brought up a few times in the inner circle. Now do they want to deal with his legal issues.. who knows. I guess they could just pay all parties off and it goes away.
Louisiana is the home of Huey Long, the kingfisher, different laws, shady backroom deals so I do not think his background would bother them. They just want to win and beat Saban .

Would Lsu hire Briles??? Now
Dang, I haven't had time to check the news today so this is the first I heard of Miles getting fired. I kind of agree about waiting until the end of the season to fire someone which brings up the timing issue and the Briles issue. I think you bring up a possibility in Briles, he would have plenty of time to assemble a staff and hit the road recruiting.

If Herman is smart he is going to stay put right now. I'm sure LSU will pursue Herman, but if I was Herman I'd not even entertain the idea right now. Texas, Auburn, LSU, possibly A&M, Notre Dame, and who knows who else will be possibly looking for coaches next year. This could be one of the biggest bidding wars in a long time. Plus he is going to be trying to win a national championship this year if things went right for him.

You will see more and more coaches being fired midseason. The situation Texas was put in with the late "retirement" of Mack is a perfect example why. Spurrier quitting mid year opened the door further. Even Beamer announced his retirement mid year. It allows the school to begin a search in earnest with plenty of time.

A&M won't be looking for a new coach. And even if they were, LSU is a WAY better job than. A&M will probably lose three games at most the rest of the year (Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee). And I think A&M wins one of those.

Tennessee seems to be the weaker opponent of those listed.

As a life-long LSU fan let me say that I'm thrilled that Les is gone. I don't know who they will attempt to hire but my wish list is as follows
1. Tom Herman
2. Gary Patterson
3. Dabo Sweeny
4. Mark Dantonio
P. S. Les should have been fired 3 years ago IMHO

Unless Herrman really wants to leave Houston I wouldn't take the LSU job. It's a great program, but. In today's college football it's not about winning conference titles and going to bowl games. It's about going to the CFP. In order to do that(as long as it's a 4 team deal) you get one loss maybe two. Your odds of getting there in the SEC especially in the same division as Bama are slim. You'd also be at a school who has what are probably impossibly high standards.

These are les last 5 years.

13-1
10-3
10-3
8-5
9-3(was nearly out the door)

Imo going there right now for a guy like Herrman is career suicide. Unless he just wants out of Houston I'd wait and see what devlopes

By the way. If Strong wins 8-9 games he will get year 4 as he should. Besides do we really want our current AD doing a football search? The baseball search was kind of a disaster.
