Now when I discuss sports here, I mean revenue sports. That means football and basketball. I don’t care how much you like baseball, it doesn’t matter as much as the other two sports anywhere.

Tech and Cougar High are traditional powers in nothing. Going to the final four 40 years ago, and being on the losing end of an iconic highlight play does not make you a traditional power, and neither does Darvin Ham breaking a backboard against a rebuilding UNC team.

After that, you’ve got four football schools. Three of which have won titles in the lifetime of modern recruits. The other had Peyton Manning, and puts 90,000 people in the stadium on a regular basis.

Then you’ve got traditional powers Michigan State and Duke. Neither of which will be playing for the title Monday.

So you’ve got a football school playing a nothing school for the title on Monday night. There is no reason we shouldn’t be in the mix on a regular basis here.

The end.
