All right, time to start an official thread. A few guys are starting to roll through check-in. A lot of the state of Texas guys will be getting here late due to weather ...

6:35 p.m. update -
FYI, it sounds like the other guys that are coming through the Dallas area will not be in until later tonight, so we won't be able to talk to them until tomorrow. I'll grab them after practice tomorrow afternoon.

6:30 p.m. update -
Devwah Whaley video interview ...

5 p.m. update -
Couple more video interviews ...

Jeffrey McCulloch

Dontavious Jackson

4:50 p.m. update
- RB Devwah Whaley is down to Texas, Arkansas and Georgia (although I don't think Georgia is a factor). He is planning to announce on Saturday but isn't 100 percent decided on that.

Interestingly, Whaley said his mind is made up and he does plan to take a Texas official visit on January 15. That would seem to bode well for the Longhorns, but Whaley isn't really tipping his hand and he really does like Arkansas.

I think this one falls UT's way but it's hard to say for sure. Video interview of Devwah coming a little later tonight.

4:10 p.m. update -
Deontay Anderson video interview from earlier.

3:55 p.m. update -
LB Jeffrey McCulloch will take an official visit to Texas on January 15, Alabama on January 22. Those are his final official visits. He'll visit A&M unofficially on January 31.

McCulloch sounds like a guy who is genuinely torn, and he said he won't announce his decision until National Signing Day. With Texas (and Texas A&M), he said the biggest issue is stability and the quarterback position. He's talked to all of the coaches about their QB plans, and Texas has told him about the two they have committed (Buechele and Ehlinger). I asked McCulloch if he chooses either Texas or Texas A&M, would that require him putting a little blind faith in either of those programs. His response .. "a lot of blind faith."

Texas will get him on campus, which is big, but this one is far from settled.

Michigan is out, so that's a good development for Texas and everyone else.

3:30 p.m. update -
Some quick notes on LB Dontavious Jackson ...

He's already visited Michigan, UCLA and Florida State. He'll take official visits to Florida on Jan 14 and Alabama on Jan 22. No official visit to Texas, but he said he'll visit UT unofficially. Also plans on going back to Florida State for an unofficial visit and probably LSU for an unofficial visit.

He communicated with UT LB coach Brian Jean-Mary today via DM. Says he's still pretty open and will announce on National Signing Day.

He's a tough one to read ... doesn't tip his hand at all. I still think Texas is at or near the top of his list, but watch out for a couple others, including Florida State. FYI, Tim Brewster is recruiting him for FSU.

Also of note, Dontavious believes teammate Chris Brown will take an official visit to Texas.

3 p.m. update -
Just talked to DB Deontay Anderson. He's down to Texas, LSU and Ole Miss. He'll visit those three programs in that order in January and decide on National Signing Day.

Lots of buzz about Ole Miss but Deontay says he doesn't know where that's coming from and he's genuinely torn between his final three. I'll have a video interview posted later.

2:50 p.m. update
- Talked to OL Patrick Hudson ... some highlights:

He'll visit Baylor and Texas A&M in January. As for Texas, he said he's not sure if he'll visit (sounds like he's leaning towards not visiting). He said he'll have to wait to see if he has a change of heart that makes him want to give UT a look.

He has not heard from new OL coach Matt Mattox. Hudson said if/when that happens, that first conversation will be huge to see how they connect. He said he still feels very good about his Baylor commitment. He's taking the A&M visit because he has bonded with their new OL coach.

Texas isn't done in this one, but the Longhorns do have a pretty big uphill battle based on my conversation with him just now.

1:45 p.m. update - DT Keyshon Camp just said he's solidly committed to USC. There was a time when Camp was saying he'd take a Texas visit but you can pretty much put this one to bed.

1:20 p.m. update - It looks like Devwah Whaley will be announcing at the game on Saturday. This bodes well for Texas IMO.

******

--- First one through is DB Kristian Fulton (Metairie La. Rummel). Fulton was scheduled to visit Texas in December but had to cancel. He's deciding between LSU and Miami for a visit on January 15 (likely LSU). He'll visit Arkansas Jan 22 and Florida Jan 29.

I asked him about a Texas visit and he said he'd still like to take one, but he'll have to figure out a way to make it a midweek visit.

This one's pretty much an LSU-Florida battle.
