Have never witnessed this in all my years of playing/coaching/watching baseball. Japan vs Venezuela with winner to play Taipei for the International Championship.

It was the bottom of the 6th with Japan at bat with 2 outs and runners at first and third. Japan's number two batter (a lefty bunter) was due up when the Japanese manager tells the head umpire his batter is sick and can't come to bat (the same kid played the field in the top of the 6th inning).

Little League rules state if a player is sick they skip his at turn at bat and go on to the next batter in the lineup. The next batter who batted third for Japan was their biggest player and star batter. Game ended when he drove one deep to the wall and it was caught for the out.

The Japanese kid could have been sick - but definitely a play on the rules. JMHO
