I would like to say that I have had some fun here with all of you the last 3 or 4 yrs, made a lot of friends and otherwise. My brother passes away 2 weeks ago and left me his place up at Caribou lake in AK..Me and the wife decided to try it for a yr and see what happens, need to go fishing anyway..Don't know other than what I saw up there at xmas when I was last with him..it about sent me over the edge as we was the only two left, I promised my mother that I would take care of her baby boy till the end and I paid my debt, gotta have honor for debts like that I assure you. I will try to pop on if there is internet up that way as my bro didn't have it. I gave my home here on the water to my grandson and his wife as he is a firefighter and is never going to leave here and loves to fish.

I want to say goodbye to all of ya, regardless if we didn't get along or did, clob , my homeboy, Metcalf2, oldhorn, MM( don't let than sweat ya bro, you are a good MOD), CAHorn( the best Drummer I know)! bomb and Soldier and the rest,Ya'll all know how disappointed I am with the FB program and how I resent certain people for making it that way..but, my Horns in my days was awesome and did the deed for Texas, I just had to remeber that this is you young'un's team now and I have to let go of comparing mine to yours, I will try to get on when I can as I have a lot to do just to move, so farewell and don't fight as we are all Longhorns till the end..and remember that " Everyday above Ground is a Good Day"!

PS. I apologize to anyone whom I offended or hurt, nothing personal just a old man ranting away his last yrs of glory.. I left a link of where I am going so ya could see..Try to chk back before I leave next week..

FB, You old fart, I for one will miss your posts. I guess I enjoyed your rants because we are of the same vintage. I agree about the old teams, both Texas and OU.

Tight Lines!!!

FB, Sorry for your loss. Glad you got to see him so recently. Those winters are supposed to be tough. Maybe you two can be winter Texans. Ham radio?

Hate to see you go, FB. Sorry to hear of your brother's passing. Hope to see you back here soon!

Gonna miss those stories, maybe you should write a Longhorn history book in between bites.

Vaya con Dios, amigo.

You will LOVE it there. My family has a home in Kenai and I visit a couple times a year. I will look you up when next I go-- probably august for the coho run.

FB Horn, this ole Bear will miss you. See, I respect good Americans and great Texans, and I consider you one of these.

Good luck to you and take care.

Sorry for your loss, FBH. If I leave my wife can I come live with y'all? I'm old too, so no homo.

TY All!

For the kind words, I may be in over my head on this one..LOL! Gonna take 15 Grand to move 3 bedrooms and 2 baths contents and my wife's Honda to Ancourage in Containers, now how do I get my boat and PU up there, too old to drive that long way, gonna have to spend a lotta money just to get there..then ya have the thoughts about living there, I was up Xmas and it was Amazing to see, but living there is another thing we all know, and then I have the option of selling it and staying here, Leasing is off the table, I guess ya don't see to much until ya put the pencil to it!

Anybody have any suggestions to share? it would be appreciated..We want to try it but, moneys not the issue its just wondering whether ya gonna be happy after spending all that money and getting and being there..more worried about my boat and PU than my wife..LOL! If I sell then I will never know how my brother lived as he was a outsdoorman more than myself

FB, Just my two cents worth, I would go up for a period of time without making a max move and spending a great deal of money. I understand you are retired and money mis-spent is hard to recover. Try a six month move and leave everything you can in corpus till you have time to really assess how it works for you and the Lady. We have moved 8 times in our marriage. I would hate to try it now at my age.

Alaska is great for the intrepid few from the lower 48 to live. It is magnificent to visit.

Fizz.

Pack the Longjohns and buy some better ones on the way. Grapevine, Texas Coats etc ain't sufficient. Good luck

FB...I would do what Fizz said. If he left you the house, I would suspect it comes with enough contents to live in....Go try living there for awhile and see how you like it. If you dont, you have a place to come back to.

You have to understand that EVERYONE has a good idea how you should spend your money and how you should raise your kids. In the end, it is on you and you have the most information to make a good choice.....good luck...or should I say buen suerte amigo

Good luck FB. I hope you enjoy that part of the world. Sorry about your loss. They should have internet up there so if I can move from WA to IN, and stay InTouch. So can you. Look forward to hearing from you from Alaskan. Hook'em!

Damn, I don't know, that's a whole new culture coming from Texas. Tell the grandson not so fast, pappy's not gone yet and tear up that deed. Visit for a season then get the hell back to Texas. You may not even get to watch college football up there and I would hate for you to miss the next RRS beatdown, regardless of who is doing the beating

FB, I wish you the best and have enjoyed "most" of your comments as you are a longhorn at heart. It is one hell of a drive from Texas and too much damn work for me.Sometimes the grass always look greener on the other side until you get there. You can find the internet in Alaska and stay in touch with all horn fans and might be the only way to get any horn info.If it were me, I would be like some migrating bird, spend summers in Alaska away from the hot as hell Texas heat, then come back in the fall and winter away from freezing your ass off in the Alaska winters.

I would second the idea of a trial move. Just take some personal things and try it for a while. I'm sure your grandson could watch things for a while. If necessary, put some stuff in storage. Then enjoy the summer and fall. You could come back to TX next winter and pack for a full move then. Best wishes.

FB I hear you can't get any Viagra up there either so that may be something to keep in mind for any man over 60.
