Texas football coach Tom Herman said freshman receiver Troy Omeire sustained a non-contact knee injury during Saturday's scrimmage. Those types of injuries are usually an ominous sign.

Unfortunately, for the Longhorns, it was.

Omeire tore his ACL on Saturday and is out indefinitely, according to my sources.

Omeire (6-foot-3 and 230 pounds) was one of the brightest stars during training camp. One source labeled Omeire a "freak" after a recent practice. He caught the attention of everyone inside the building the past few weeks, and was expected to contribute as a freshman.

Texas does have a lot of depth at that position, but this is an unfortunate setback for Omeire and the Longhorns.

I will keep you posted.
