Longhorn men are in the midst of an epic comeback in the 3rd and last round of The Hayt tournament at Sawgrass. After a poor/mediocre 1st round where Texas posted a +2 for 6th place 11 strokes behind 1st place Alabama at -9, Texas was the best team on the course in the 2nd Round with a -14 to move into 4th place but still 10 strokes behind 1st place Alabama who were -13 on the round. Texas has continued its torrid pace today at -6 on the day thru 11-14 holes. They were still 3-4 strokes behind Alabama when one of the Alabama counters just posted a triple bogey to vault Texas into the lead by 3 strokes over Alabama and 8 strokes over Duke. With all three teams thru 11-14 holes, Texas is -6 on the day, Alabama is +7 on the day. Duke is +3 on the day and 4th place Virginia is +10 on the day. The 3rd Round was delayed by 2 hours at the start, presumably because of bad weather but the Texas men have been on fire the last two rounds and are justifying their #4 ranking.
