Texas adds three home games to future Football schedule
ULM, Wyoming and Texas State round out the Longhorns’ non-conference slates in 2022, 2023 and 2026.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas has added three home games to round out its 2022, 2023 and 2026 non-conference football schedules, UT Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte announced on Tuesday.
Texas will host the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) on Sept. 3, 2022, to complete a non-conference slate of home games versus Alabama (Sept. 10) and UTSA (Sept. 17) that year. It will be the second meeting between UT and ULM with the Longhorns winning, 59-20, in Austin in 2009.
Wyoming will travel to Austin on Sept. 16, 2023, finalizing the Longhorns’ non-conference schedule for that year, which also includes a road game at Alabama (Sept. 9) and home opener with Rice (Sept. 2). It will be the sixth time Texas and Wyoming have played, with the Longhorns winning the previous five times. The last meeting was 2012 in Austin when Texas prevailed, 37-17.
In 2026, Texas will open the season at home against Texas State on Sept. 5, 2026, filling out that year’s non-conference slate, which also includes home games against Ohio State (Sept. 12) and UTSA (Sept. 19). The two schools have played just once before – in 1930 when the school was named Southwest Texas State Teachers College. Texas won that game in Austin, 36-0.
The contests with Alabama in 2022 and 2023, as well as Ohio State in 2025 and 2026 are part of a high-profile collection of home-and-home series that started with LSU traveling to Austin this past year and a return trip to Baton Rouge in the upcoming year. Other featured future matchups with iconic college football programs include Michigan (2024 and 2027), Georgia (2028 and 2029) and Florida (2030 and 2031).
