LSU and Clemson

NFL teams in need of a QB will tank like crazy in 2020, and maybe 2021. They'll fall all over themselves in finding ways to lose to each other, until Trevor Lawrence goes. Probably the 2020 season (2021 draft), but who knows?

Lawrence's ceiling is incredibly high. Burrow is very good, but he doesn't compare.

How does he not compare? Measurables, accuracy, athleticism and leadership qualities. Burrow is the most NFL ready quarterback I have seen in a good while. I’m not taking anything away from Lawrence by any means because he is great too. But to say it’s not even close is just absurd to me.

lawrence is a peyton manning like prospect for the NFL. Burrow had a better year but that doesnt mean that hes a better prospect than Lawrence.

I don’t believe that for a second. Burrow is just as good as Lawrence is.

Yes, Burrow is a good QB and put up astounding numbers this season. However, NFL scouts pay more attention to upside (arm strength, passing accuracy, mobility, height, weight, ability to read defenses, etc.) than stats. Burrow will be the number one pick in this year's draft. What some are saying in here is that IF both were coming out in this year's draft, that the consensus amongst NFL scouts is that Lawrence is the best pro prospect in many years, and the majority of scouts/teams, if not all, would take Lawrence over Burrow.

If i wanted someone who could step in right now and run a pro offense, I'd take Burrows.

If I had the luxury of a veteran QB for a couple more years allowing me time to develope and hone a backup I'd take Lawrence. I think this kid has the ability and frame to be a franchise qb if he ends up with the right organization.

The only thing I’m disagreeing with you on is the fact you said it’s not even close. The NFL scouts are all drooling over Burrow right now. All those things you listed Burrow has.

MM I don't doubt that you know your stuff....but I was hearing that Burrow made two throws last night that only 2 current NFL QB's could make.....plus, his accuracy is off the charts.

Who knows in the end if a QB will make it or not?...So much depends on things besides throwing the ball. Some guys seem to have it and some guys never get it. The first minute Joe Namath stepped on the field he was as good as any other QB in the NFL.I don't know if Unitas even went to college. Any way, we only have to wait a few more years to see which of them pans out....

Burrow had an amazing year, but does anyone remember what he was a year ago? He was basically a serviceable game manager. He was solid, but nothing special - 2,800 yards, 57% completion percentage, 16 TD's and 5 INT's. Clearly, Brady made a huge difference this year. Let's see if he gets quality coaching with the Bengals next year. The Bengals track record isn't exactly stellar. I hope that he does well, but don't be surprised if his transition to the NFL isn't the smoothest.

Ya well last season was essentially his redshirt freshman year as it was his first full season. I don’t doubt one bit he is gonna struggle in Cincinnati next year as they are in rebuilding mode right now.

If you want to compare the two, you need to give Trevor Lawrence another 3 years to compare to Joe Burrow now. That's the age difference.

Trevor led his team to the national championship in his first 2 years in college, and won it as a true freshman. He was a backup for just 4 games.

Burrow had 5 seasons to accomplish what Lawrence did in 1. Burrow took a redshirt year, then 2 seasons as a backup to JT Barrett. He transferred in order to start at LSU.

Good for whatever team gets Burrow. None of what I said is a knock on him.

It's just that Trevor comes with high expectations indeed. He's expected to be transcendent, to be one of the all-time greats, perhaps to surpass Peyton. NFL teams are all lusting after him.
