Malik going pro

The rookie wadge scale has diminished the benefit of staying in school and imprv8ng your draft stock

Good luck to Malik, he was a good Longhorn. He is a good guy and I back his decision.

But, do you believe the toe deal?

I beleive he had a toe injury. I also beleive if we were playing in a semi final tomorrow he’d be in the lineup.

He is going to win the Underwear Olympics. Will probably look better than any other linebacker at the combine. Scouts will fall in love with his measurables. No way he slips past the third round.

If his turf toe is bothering him, he might not be able to show off his speed. That could hurt him.

He oould use another year in college and may not be ready for the pros but like most kids his age ready for the money.Playing for Texas is secondary today but its playing for the money is primary in todays top players.

I would like to see Malik have another good year at Texas, under Orlando, & secure first round status. After all, he was a 5 star recruit out of high school.

Don't turn the oven off, he's not cooked through just yet. He should get even better in the pros . . . If he's in the right scheme!

Not sure what round he'll get drafted in. My guesstimate would be the 4th or 5th. IMO, Malik isn't ready for the NFL. He should have stayed in school for another year.

So of recent draft projections looks like Malik is going NUMBER 19 FIRST ROUND to THE Dallas Cowboys.

I expect many likes on this and some crow eating from others.

Something about chickens and eggs bruh.

Nobody will deny that at the combine, Malik will impress. He's a physical specimen. How that has translated to on the field play has remained to be seen with consistency.

I go with chicken and waffles
I don't know if @Belldozer1 has been yet or not, but I'd like to recommend a place for chicken and waffles---- it's in New Braunfels, it's called the downtowner. Go in there, ask for the owner --Chad-- tell him you know clob.... eat the steak and eggs or chicken and waffles..... thank clob later.

It's been spoken here many times that Texas has not been sending players to the NFL like they used to.

So let.me use this thread to say that Texas had a chance to have 5 players drafted in the first 2 days of the draft ie first 3 rounds.

Good start...but not good enough

Nope not good enough yet. Sending guys to the NFL isn’t the end all be all, but most years if you look at the top 3-4 rounds of the draft. You can get a pretty good idea of what schools had a good season on college ball

malik
holton hill
elliott
connor

from what i've read those 4 are almost mortal locks to go before the end of round 3.

poona probably won't.

there might be another drafted guy but i'm drawing a blank.

Poona will be lucky to be drafted even though he'll be missed just as much as any of those defensive guys. He just doesn't have the NFL measurables despite the production. I don't think Hill and Elliot are getting drafted before round 3 and certainly aren't mortal locks to go before.

you're right that they're not mortal locks. all i've seen on elliott is 2nd round. i admittedly don't scour the web for this stuff, but i've seen 4 or 5 projections. hill is also projected mostly 2nd round, though they have mentioned his getting removed from the team and that might be a cause for a fall.

The NFL doesn't care if you smoke weed, but they absolutely care if you can't beat drug tests. Hill will certainly fall.

I think Ray Guy was the only punter drafted in the first round. Sometimes kickers go in rounds 1 or 2. I can see Dickson going in the 4th round, maybe someone will take him late in the third but I doubt it.

i'm not old enough to remember guy, and i am admittedly biased, but dickson is the best i've ever seen. if you want to win the hidden yardage every week, you might grab him.

Yes Michael can and will go in the first 3 rounds. You didn't forget that he was the MVP in the Houston Bowl did you?

The above poster was correct when he said that Ray Guy was the only punter drafted in the first round but he's also the only punter on the HOF. I think Michael is worthy of being drafted in the first 3 rounds
