Malik going pro

I would bet the over on round 3. Not that it couldn't be rationalized, but NFL GMs are not exactly innovative. They don't want to do something that hasn't been tested a thousand times over.

This is in regards to drafting Dickson in the first 3 rounds.

Remember the aggie.punter Shane Lechler? He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Raiders and went on to an outstanding career with the Raiders and the Texans. That was the year the Raiders drafted Sebastian Kanikowski in the first round and he's still in the NFL. That crazy ol Al Davis the late owner of the Raiders. Only be would have drafted like that but it paid off.

But you're right about kickers getting drafted. Justin Tucker wasn't drafted but what a career he's had. Phil Dawson wasn't drafted either. We'll find out soon enough.

I would not be surprised in Dickson went in the first few rounds. There are not many players in any position that can turn a game around almost singlehandedly. The Bowl game was not the first or even second game where he seemed to almost at will cause the other team to start inside their 10 yd line and many times inside the 5. When he is kicking from deep in his own territory, he booms out those 60 and 70 yarders.

The only thing that will cause him to drop is the dinosaur brained GM's in football that continuously pick the Johnny autographs and the like. Sabermetrics have yet to come to pro football, but Dicksons soon to be stellar career might help to change that.

Ray Guy averaged 49 yds a punt his first year I think and proved his high draft status, but he was nothing compared to Dickson in trapping a team deep in their own end.

Lechler was drafted in the 5th round. One of the reasons he was so desirable is that he could do kickoffs, field goals, pats, and be the emergency QB

again....hard to compare ANY punter to Dickson. He deserved that Bowl MVP, and no other punter in history could have done that.

Think about it. If your team crosses the 50 they either get a chance to score or leave the other team with 90 plus yards to navigate every damned time!...That is how you win games.
No more having to go for 4th and 10 from the 35 yd line....
