So most all are assuming that Arch is the starter but could this turn into a competition. From the glimpse we got of Owens at the Spring game, the fact that Sark apparently didn't have a lot of confidence in Arch this year and word behind the scenes about how Owens is coming on... maybe we have a competition coming. Of course in any case Arch does look like the better athlete so I am assuming that we would have still have a package of plays for him.
In addition, I inquired about backup quarterback Trey Owens. Before I could finish my sentence, one person immediately said, "He’s a baller." I was told Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian loves Owens and is confident in his backup quarterback. Nobody I spoke with this week wanted to create any bad vibes. However, I was told Texas would be in good shape if Manning did not play for any reason this season. One person said, "Trust me, any quarterback who throws 43 touchdowns and only four interceptions in a season is special."
