Wesley Yates Visit

Four-star prospect Wesley Yates visited Texas this past weekend. It’s believed his top three are Texas, Auburn, and Stanford, according to a source of mine.

The 24th-ranked player in the country is a tremendous scorer who can get hot easily, especially from deep (though his deep shooting numbers are not yet efficient). He’s a guy that can score from anywhere on the floor, including driving to the rack, shooting from the mid-range, and as mentioned earlier, shooting the three ball.

Different from a lot of off-guards his age, Yates isn't a super skinny prospect, weighing in at around 200 lbs with a 6’4 height. Due to this advantage, he’s often able to finish through contact and draw a foul in the process when driving. He’s really physically strong, which contributes to this ability. He possesses a good handle as well, which allows him to get to the rim more easily. His raw athletic ability also lends itself to good defense, which he plays. He’s laterally quick, which helps in ball screen scenarios on defense.

If Yates ends up in Austin, the Longhorns will be getting a guy that can fill it up big time who also has potential on defense.
