Well Spike Dikes won a conference championship and scheduled teams like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Kansas State, and Penn State in their non-conference.

Mike Leach schedules the weakest non-conference games humanly possible, so he can be guaranteed 7-8 wins.

I thought Leach was the OC when Oklahoma won the National Championship.Leach,a lawyer,has a different approach to the game.Tech and Washington State,good teams but not football power houses. .If you put Leach at schools like Florida,Florida state where he has the athletes to really run his offense could be rough to stop.

He doesn't. The air-raid offense was designed to hide the fact that you have lesser talent.

Hypothetically, I'm a head coach at a lesser power 5 conference school. Every year I load my non-conference schedule with teams that shouldn't have any chance of beating me. That makes me 3 or 4 and 0 before conference play even starts. I play 8 conference games and go 3-5. I'm now 7-5 with gaudy offensive stats, I haven't beaten a good team all year, but I didn't in Lubbock. Who could go 7-5 at Tech? Lots of coaches using the trademark Aur Raid scheduling method.
