Mike Lee, Senator from Utah, in an interview on Fox News just raised an interesting point. While acknowledging that Trump did not actually pressure Barr on the Stone sentence (Barr actually make the sentencing decision prior to the Trump tweet) he raised the following point. If a President has the right to commute a sentence or even pardon altogether, and he does, why wouldn't he have the right to simply suggest a lesser sentence? Think about it.
