Your first edition of let’s review the announcers. I really, really liked this duo of Monaco and Morrison. I had never them do a football game before. I knew of Monaco from his CWS work. But I had never heard the name Kirk Morrison ever.
Monaco was beyond solid and very effective as the play-by-play guy. He has a good speaking voice and does a good job painting the picture.
Morrison had a lot of energy that never became annoying or over-the-top. I like that he was excited to be calling the game. He seemed as fired up about Texas as I was. (I hate when the announcers act like their job is a chore.)
Both of them seemed very prepared about both teams. Their sideline reporter, Dawn Davenport, had some good bits. She was all over DKR. Also, she is quite cute. (“Honey, ducks are cute!!!)
Next week we get my favorite announcing team: Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt, and Jenny Taft.
