Fort Benning to become Fort Moore in honor of Lt. Gen. Hal and Julia Moore
Hal Moore is of “We Were Soldiers” fame.
Fort Bragg becomes Fort Liberty
Fort Pickett becomes Fort Barfoot (WW2 Medal of Honor recepient)
Fort Polk becomes Fort Johnson (WW1 vet)
Fort Hood becomes Fort Cavazos (Texas vet and first Hispanic American promoted to general)
There were other changes not listed
