The former Duncanville standout was in Austin last weekend for a visit and while he hasn’t responded to direct requests for comments on the visit, people who spent time with him on the visit seem to think the Longhorns made a strong impression.
He’s also taken a visit to Ole Miss and Rebels DC Pete Golden did put out a tweet on Monday morning indicating Ole Miss picked up a commitment, but Ole Miss insiders are still trying to figure out who that might be. Blackshire to Texas makes a lot of sense due to a variety of reasons (coming home, relationship with current players, open depth chart), but we’re still trying to get a clear read on this one.
Of note, spring classes at Texas begin on Tuesday so I’d expect a quick decision if the choice is going to be the Longhorns. Ole Miss classes don’t start until January 22 so that would afford Blackshire a bit more time.
