Per various reports, Cibolo Steele DE Mark Jackson is expected to announce his decision today. A decision coming the day after he wrapped up his Oklahoma visit would seem to bode well for the Sooners.

Jackson favored OU before the visit and it looks like it's heading that way. People with connections in the OU football offices are saying Oklahoma feels good in this one.

Overall, things are pretty much the same from the updates I posted yesterday afternoon/evening, but let's take a quick recap of where things stand.

--- Got a text early this morning from a source who is hearing very good things about UT's chances with Manor LB Erick Fowler. Very good.

This one's hard for me to predict and I'm not quite willing to stick my neck out there and predict Fowler to Texas ... just passing along some information I heard this morning.

I was told last night that Charlie Strong did talk with Erick Fowler's father on Sunday and the conversation went well. The in-home meeting on Saturday with Fowler and Fowler's mother also went well.

I'm hedging my bets on this one a bit compared to the message I received this morning because Fowler's situation has been a bit unpredictable, but this one does appear to be trending Texas' way with less than 48 hours remaining until NSD.

---

Patrick Hudson - Hudson likes Texas a lot, but I think his comfort level with the Baylor coaches still has Baylor in the driver's seat. His mother is also very comfortable with the Baylor staff. Call it 60/40 Baylor.

Dontavious Jackson - Nothing really of substance to report about his unofficial visit, but Jackson has loved Texas for a long time. I think Texas gets it done over FSU and Alabama.

Brandon Jones - I mentioned it yesterday, but there are rumors that A&M is making a late surge. I checked with a few sources who had heard those same rumors, but nobody had any concrete information if the talk was valid. In talking to someone this morning, the vibe is that Jones truly is still undecided. I agree with that take, but I think Texas is still the team to beat.

Kyle Porter - Porter talked up his Arkansas visit and I heard from one person over the weekend that it was in fact going very well. At one point, Arkansas was believed to be UT's biggest competition but most of the talk now centers on TCU and Texas. Porter does really like Charlie Strong, which gives Texas a chance but I'm still leaning TCU. I did hear this morning that Porter is still undecided so this one is still in play.

D'Andre Christmas-Giles - Not changing my mind now. Texas leads big. Very big.

Deontay Anderson - I've been trying to get in touch with Anderson or someone in his camp to gauge the Ole Miss visit, but haven't had much luck. The news of Ole Miss having issues with the NCAA could throw a wrench in this one, but one person I talked to this morning still feels confident Ole Miss wins out.

Jordan Elliott - Writing's on the wall with this one with the decommitment from Michigan. Anywhere but Texas would be a shock.

Chris Brown - Same situation as Elliott. If he doesn't pick Texas, it'll shock everybody.

Jeffrey McCulloch - Same as Chris Brown and Elliott.

Chris Daniels - There's talk that A&M made a move into contention during his visit last weekend, but per a source I talked to this morning, Texas is still the team to beat. I've felt for a while the Longhorns would win out and that hasn't changed.

Stephon Taylor - This one is tough for me. I do believe Taylor favors Texas over FSU and South Carolina, but I can't help but wonder if all the other DTs favoring Texas won't impact his decision. I think it's close to 50/50 between Texas and FSU. Tough to call.

Marcel Southall - It's been so quiet since his UT visit that I'm not sure I'm feeling this one. He's been an OU lean for the longest time and I can't ignore that fact.

Michael Williams - Another wild-card. He really likes Texas, but he's been committed to Stanford for a while. My gut tells me sticks and I haven't heard much to make me put him in the flip category.
