The Democrats have had a bad run in the Senate starting with Reid's changing the rules on lower court appointments. The decision to filibuster Gorsuch is going to directly cause the most Conservative court we have seen in decades by the time Trump is out of office.

Had they not filibustered, R's would likely fail to get the votes on a rules change if D's filibuster a far right replacement for the moderate Kennedy. When you aren't tilting the balance, it's easier to get the rules change votes. Alas, the rules have been changed. Trump will have a clear road to appoint someone significantly further to the right on the political spectrum than the next court departure.

The Democrats made a once per generation mistake.
