I would agree. There are some programs that just are what they are and a coach isn’t likely to change that unless you just happen to fall in to a great one like when they got spurrier but even then they weren’t great. It makes no sense for a school like SC to be paying such high buyouts in these times. There is absolutely 0 chance they end up much better than where they are. They are a part of the SEC where their socialistic revenue is guaranteed. I would deem this fiscally highly irresponsible.
Yep. Now if you told me someone like Hugh Freeze was going to come in I could kind of see it. But if I were him I wouldn’tIn their entire history, they had a run from 2011-13 under Spurrier with 3 back-to-back 2-loss seasons. That is NEVER happening for them again. They have 3 guaranteed losses to Florida, Georgia, and Clemson every year. Plus, add other likely losses. 13M is a LOT of money for a tier-3 football program at these times.

I'm curious if USC is going to throw a truck load of cash at Urban and this was their way of jumping the gun. With so much speculation of him coming to Texas I could see a school like USC making a move to try and get him first. Keep in mind, they are also the school that brought in Steve Spurrier.
USC is 2-0 granted it’s an ugly 2-0 but they are 2-0. If they didn’t make a move on Helton after last season doubt they would this year.I'm curious if USC is going to throw a truck load of cash at Urban and this was their way of jumping the gun. There is only one USC. I wonder who South Carolina will target? Do they go after Freeze?
He’s probably the best they could get. Although reportedly the SEC commish doesn’t want him back in the conference. There is only one USC. I wonder who South Carolina will target? Do they go after Freeze?
Of course everyone wants urban Meyer. Every NFL team probably wants Andy Reid and/or Bill Belichek, but that’s not reality. The reality is If Urban coaches again there are only maybe 5 programs he’d do it atThey all want Urban Meyer. I was trolling a TCU site on Sunday and they have a crazy assumption that Urban Meyer is going to be their coach next year, lulz. No one wants an "up and comer" anymore. They all want Meyer who has skins on the wall. I wonder where they could have come up with this idea? Unrealistic as it is.
Herman will not leave unless he is fired, this is his dream job. Texas will not allow Herman the opportunity to leave and blame it on a toxic culture. I do not believe USC can afford the Will Muschamp buy + TH buyout in a year where they stand to lose $40MIL due to Covid. Their fans are saying they are realistically looking for an "affordable, up and coming" HC under their current financial situation. But hey works out for us if they do buy TH out, lets hope!Rumors from the South Carolina side is that there might be interest from both sides of Herman going to South Carolina. Anyone think Herman would "willingly" move on? He could save face from being fired and blame his failure on toxic culture. He probably would be a good fit at South Carolina. It might make sense.
I think it’s very possible Herman might find a soft landing spot like this. It’s obvious that Herman and Texas are heading for a breakup. Weather it’s after this year or after next year. Maybe kind of a mutual parting of ways is what happens.Rumors from the South Carolina side is that there might be interest from both sides of Herman going to South Carolina. I don’t think Texas would fight for the buyout honestly.Herman will not leave unless he is fired, this is his dream job. I agree! I would like for it to be this year but I don't think we will part from Herman this season. Herman's teams have a track record of performing better under pressure so we could still make the Big 12 CCG, surprisingly. Yeah I think Texas would be pretty flexible in terms of buyout. A mutual separation may be the best way outTom Herman buyout is called a cake, I think even USCe can afford the goodbye cake.
South Carolina buying out Herman would be the best for everyone involved. Now mind you, that 15 million could be spread out over four years vs 3 should Tom realize it's what is best for him. Now if Tom were smart, he would ask for another 3+ million and another year to give him 5 years minimum to put his squad in place at SC. An 8 win average annually at south Carolina would keep his job for quite some time. Of course if he jumps up and wins 10 every 4 or 5 years, he could be there indefinitely. But if Herman really wants the chance to be a big time coach, he would take this job and grow his resume, perfect his coaching techniques etc. Do well after 5 years in South Carolina and he would be ready for a blue blood job.
