Texas linebacker Naashon Hughes confirmed the team had a players only meeting this past weekend. 247 was the first to report this story.
According to Hughes, all of the captains spoke at this meeting, which was sparked after a loss to Maryland. In addition, Hughes said anybody on the team who had something to say spoke.
"Everybody on the team was there," Hughes said. "We all understood the message during the player-led meetings. We all just wanted to make sure we were on the same page."
In addition, Hughes said, "I want them to understand this is a better team, a new team. We’re not going down that same path. We’re striving for greatness."
Hughes believes the meeting was productive, and is optimistic the team is ready to face San Jose State on Saturday.
